A show isn't playing an edited sequence

Greetings All,

As I read the LOR FAQ, I should be able to edit a sequence, then replace the old one and have the show pick it up.

I edited a few undesired effects out of a sequence last night then dropped it into the Sequences directory overwriting the original.

However, tonight, the show played the old (unwanted) sequence.

What I am doing wrong? How do I make this work? I know I can edit the show, delete the unwanted sequence one and add in the edited sequence, but is there anyway that a fixed sequence can be picked up automatically?

Or is it just me?

Thanks for your help,
Charles

Disable shows then re-enable them again.

Hi William,

What an astonishingly sensible thing to try. Didn't occur to me .. which says a lot about me.

Too late for me to give it a go tonight. If I have trouble again, I'll try it.

Thanks for your quick reply,
Charles

Just a little more clarification-- the show won't "pick up" an edited sequence once it's been played the first time. When you disable/re-enable, it causes the show to start back at the beginning, but also forces it to reload/pick up any changes to the sequence.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for taking the time to send that along. It helps makes sense of what's happening -- or not happening, actually.

I had the idea that the software was checking the modification times on the sequence files before each play rather than at "enable" time.

I appreciate the information,
Charles

That's not right (not without stopping the show and restarting it, or waiting until it stops and restarts naturally). Could you please tell me exactly where you read this? Thanks.

Hi Bob,

Well, I thought for a minute I was going to have to say, "no." It's getting to where I need some sort of bookmark for everything now.

But I finally managed to find it at:
http://www.lorwiki.com/faq/57-sequences-shows-and-schedules/202-can-i-change-a-sequence-while-its-playing

I think I'm reading this correctly, not just inferring what I wanted it to do.

Regards,
Charles

Being that I'm (probably) the one who wrote that, I should clarify that it was written for the old LOR1 software. I would imagine I would have tested that theory before writing that up and posting it to the site.

(And for any newcomers: The LOR Wiki is now owned by LOR. They would very much appreciate it someone stepped up to edit/modify it. Contact Dan to volunteer.)
