And especially if you keep controllers out in the yard...
eric dominguez Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 One of the bad things in California is that today it's 76 outside and sunny so the grass dries up.I guess this could also be a good thing:cool:Just kidding I know it cold in Minn.
George Simmons Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 One of the good things about the cold, besides the fact that it kills off the mosquitos, is that GFI's tripping aren't much of a problem for us.
PaulXmas Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Geezzz it is going to be - 22 F on Sun night hereWater is the last thing I have to worry about!I would make sure things were good and dry before turning on the power.
chipwdw Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 hey i am in FL and i shut off the zones that are in the areas where the lights are. but i will turn the sprinklers on and just block the LOR boxes and some lights if i need to. it really didnt matter as we got about 2" of rain today and more tomorrow. GFI tripped of course with all the rain. but i now have all the plugs up and should be ok after this.
George Simmons Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 We had some rain the week of Thanksgiving and I was getting a little worried. I had two GFI's that kept tripping - both were pulling close to their limit and based on where the controllers are and what they're running there wasn't anything I could do about lightening their load.. Fortunately the rain ended in time and it has since gotten colder so I'm hoping it won't even be an issue any more this season. I used light stakes that I've been accumulating for years to raise up off the ground as many critical connections as possible, but with 300+ channels and almost two miles of cords, that gets a bit problematic to keep up with.
