controlling from windows 98SE

Im trying to control from a machine with win 98SE i plugged in the USB adapter and it said it had to load the driver it went through the new hardware wizard and did not find one. i still cannot control the lights

how can i go back to the new hardware wizard?

Sorry for the possibly basic question, but did you install the driver before plugging in the device?

i think? i put the disk in and open the setup hardware utility and it says all the files are existing
