Guest guest
Hi, I just ordered my first LOR hardware today. I have Cat5 available to link my computer to the boxes. Are there any benefits of using Cat5e over Cat5? I will initally have 32 channels this year. If all goes well I plan on adding more in the future. Thanks! Guest guest
I don't think Cat5e is going to have any advantage with LOR hardware since it is serial based. Cat5e is suppose to give you a better connection with 1000 based ethernet but don't know if that is even better.

Guest guest
I think the main difference is more twists (twisted pairs) per inch. That would allow all the improvements they mentinoed.I'm sure you dont need it for the LOR if cost is an issue. If you plan to use some of your spool for networking computers in your house then get the 5e.
