How to video display?

Since things are looking so good with my shows, I would like to do some video-taping and am looking for advice.

I have a pretty standard Sony Hi8 Handycam that I would use. The camera does NOT have an audio-in port. I have video capture equipment and software to download the video to digital. I would of course use a good tripod, but i am stuck on how to get the audio recorded. I really hate it when you look at a YouTube video, and the audio is obviously coming from the car radio and you can hear the kids fighting in the back seat, etc, on the video, or you can hear cars driving by etc. On the other hand there are some fantastic YouTube videos out there that have outstanding sound tracks.

I have considered just recording the video portion, downloading it to the PC and using some video editing software to copy the LOR MP3 file over to an audio track. That would require quite a bit of finese to get the audio to sync with the video.

Any thoughts?

Just use the mic on the camera to record the audio while taping your show, (it will make syncing up the audio you want to use a LOT easier). Then use your audio file you used for your sequence and add it to the video. For your taping, take out a portable radio to record the audio (if you are only broadcasting it over FM)..

I know with my Video Editing Software (as most I think) you can "delete" the original audio and use the MP3 or WAV Audio you used in your sequence.

Syncing it up doesn't take long. My friend video taped my show the other night..but he forgot to turn on his mic, so I had to sync the audio just by sight...but after sequencing the song in LOR and listening to it over a 100 times, you know exactly where the audio should go. LOL

This is the one I had to sync the other night:

Just a 100 times?? You must be a much better sequencer that I am. I swear that I heard Wizards at least a 1000 times. I have a chronic headache now.

The video editing software I use (Ulead Video Studio 10) is pretty good, so when things slow down I will try that. I will at least record the video portion now and add the audio later.
