Guest guest
I built a model of the yard on a basemant wall. Used C9's to represent each item. This was to see how sequences pan out.I am having a problem playing the sequences in the sequence editor. If I open the editor with shows enabled in control panel, LOR channels don't play but DIO does. If I disable the shows, LOR units play but DIO doesn't.The only way to have all play together is to disable shoes AND start the hardware utility AND do a DIO board refresh in the hardware utility. So, multiple questions:Has anyone tried using DIO AND LOR playing together in the sequence editor (animation sequence)? Maybe this mode is not supported?Does the DIO board have compatibility issues? If I continue to program this way, will the show run correctly? Right now, I only have a 1 min. startup sequence done so I don't know...Setup: 32 LOR and 48 DIO. (Using only 18 of the 48 DIO this year. It's stated purpose is to enable other animation controllers and interface the traffic light controller to the shows.)I would really like this to work..... Guest guest
What DIO card are you using? I have a Metrabyte ISA 96 and have not seen that problem. Have you tried to run it with the scheduler?Joe
Guest guest
There is no reason that I am aware of that the DIO card and LOR channels will not work together. One problem you mentioned is expected. With shows enabled, the LOR channels will not work in the sequence editor (that is because the show player has the serial port open). The DIO will work in the Sequence Editor even if shows are enabled. Not the other side of the coin does not make sense to me. You mention that the DIO channels do not run if shows are disabled. This is not the expected behavior. When your PC first starts, if the first thing you do is start the Sequence Editor do you have the same problem. ( Make sure that shows are disabled before you restart the PC )...

It has an Altera programmable logic chip but acts like (2) 8255's. Everything is inverted so I had to build a high impedence interface to invert everything and make 8 channels switch 12VDC rather than 120VAC.I have not tried the scheduler. I will when the main repeating sequence is done.

That part makes sense. When the PC is first started and I run sequence editor, this is when the problem of the DIO channels not playing happens.I start the hardware utility and go to the DIO tab. I do the refresh with the Bsoft box checked. I can close the hardware utility, run the sequence from the editor and it works. I can live with this as long as the show works with the scheduler and plays together every night without user intervention. (Which may prove true later this week).Better add, (and forgot to write this originally), that the LOR host PC is a NEMA roadside traffic cabinet that will sit outside without a monitor in a small heated area of the cabinet. I use XP remote desktop feature from my laptop to run and edit sequences on the host LOR PC. Today, I'll hook a monitor to it and see what happens when directly connected to the host PC.Also: I'm going to hold off sending the unit back with the bad channel 11 until I have a working show. I intentionally left spare channels in case of problems and will copy the channel 11 sequence to a different channel for now.
Guest guest
Oh well, I guess appologies to Dan are in order. I rebooted and ran directly from the host PC in the cabinet and DIO plays well with LOR. So you didn't have a problem, I did. Either remote desktop or my network caused this glitch and other minor ones I noticed...Thank you for your response in this matter even though I was at fault. I do not see a need to do any copying.Chuck
