Guest guest
I received my controllers yesterday and have set up 3 7' trees in my computer room with a total of 3,000 lights for testing. I have to say that light-o-rama is awesome and I feel like Christmas is here. After watching the tutorials and making a few shows I was thinking it would be cool if the software had a few other features to make it easier like make it easier to set the intensity of the channel. Have Control-1 for 10% etc.- Shortcut keys are your friend. One of the biggest improvements I think would be able to have short cut keys to select tools. I use photoshop a lot and I can tell you that shortcut keys are a huge time saver.I am trying to find out what are the "New Features" that are going to be in LORII and have read the "Light-O-Rama in 2006" thread. It says "A complete list of features will be posted at a later date." After reading a lot of messages on this board I was able to pick up a few things like DMX control, etc., but there does not seem to be any "offical" list of features we can look forward to. I have been working with the current software a lot lately and really getting to know it so there will to be that big of a learning curve when LORII comes out.Any chance of a list of the new features in LORII or do we just have to wait and be surprised? Guest guest
Most software vendors, including my employer, have policies that features are not announced until either a) the product ships, or the product is so close to shipping that the final feature set is well locked down and established (e.g. you're in the final stages of quality control/debugging). The realities of software development means that some features intended for a particular release will be pulled at the last moment due to issues, other features/bug fixes may actually be snuck in a the last second, etc.So it's not a matter of being "mysterious", it's a matter that you don't KNOW what you might be shipping in 2 months... Also, when you have a competitor, you don't want to reveal your game plan too far in advance. That said, Dan did reveal many of the planned features for LOR II at PLUS 2005. I'd recite what they were, but my memory is very fuzzy, and I'd hate to start false rumors. If Dan sees fit to list them here, he will.-Tim
Guest guest
I agree with Tim. I think it's better for him NOT to commit to anything until he knows for sure it will make the shipping version. LOR II was originally slated to come out last year, and unfortunately didn't make it. It was very disapointing because we had all expected it to be out for the season... (although I don't remember Dan guaranteeing anything).Anyway to my point, I'd rather not get my hopes up for a feature that doesn't make the eventual product. Dan has been the king of under promise and over deliver. And to this date, I can't think of any other vendor that has done sooo much for his customers. So I'm happy to wait. I'm sure I'll be pleasantly surprised with the new version.Jeremy

Guest guest
My room is a mess right now. I just threw these trees up, some wireframes and a few strings of C9s just so I can see how the fades are going to react.I took the photos with a Fisheye lens so that is why everything looks so round. It was the only way to take a photo of my entire room.
Guest guest
Those pictures are great, thanks for sharing. My 16 channel controller is coming the 17th. I am going to do something similar to play around with it. Are those tree 1,000 lights each? Because I have 1 - 1,000 tree like yours and I thought I read somewhere that depending on the amps each channel could only do about 500 lights.Let me know how everything is going. It's my turn in a few days.Michael B
Guest guest
Each tree does have 1,000 lights. I bought 10 of them last year one week before Christmas at home depot when they were 75% off. They will all be in a line in my front yard so I should be able to do some cool effects with them. Each tree with 1,000 lights is 3.3 amps and you can have 8 amps on a channel with LOR controllers (as long as you have the bigger heatsinks) so it should be fine. I did though have to split up the trees on different controllers because it would go over the 20 amp limit per side If I had them all on at once (as long as you upgrade your Power Input Needs and upgrade the fust 20 20amp on the LOR board.) Guest guest
Thanks!I will have to check out my tree.I will have a show time controller, I'm guessing it has the larger heat sink. I purchased the 30 amp controller.Michael B

Guest guest
I bought the showtime controller also. To upgrade it to 20 amp, you just need to buy 20amp fuses (it comes with 15) and add a larger input power wire (10 gauge would be good)
