navykidd02 Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Channel 13 on my 1602 controller keeps tripping the GFCI. It doesnt matter if there is a flood light, rope light, or just plain old 100ct white lights. It always trips. Any Ideas. I dont really need the channel I just moved the item to a new channel and reprogrammed the sequences. BUUUT it is just so much easier(I hope) just to fix the channel.
Darryl Lambert Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Are you plugging the lights directly into the controller or using an extension cord? The only thing I can think of besides a hardware issue would be the cord.
navykidd02 Posted November 28, 2009 Author Posted November 28, 2009 Yes i am but I already tried swapping the extension cord. But when I plug it into a different channel everything is fine.
-klb- Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 If you have an ohm meter, you can check and see if that neutral is crossed up with the other side of the controller or ground. With all power disconnected, measure from the wide blade to the ground pin, and there should be no reading. From the wide blade to the other side inlet wide blade should be no reading as well. From the channel wide blade to the inlet for that side should read near zeo ohms.
Max-Paul Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Forgive me, I am a little slow. When you say extention cord. This is not the same as the little pigtails that you might have gotten with the controller is it? I am refering to those short cords with the molded female connector and it goes into the controller. I wonder if you have these and if so, have you changed this pigtail cord.
navykidd02 Posted November 28, 2009 Author Posted November 28, 2009 Yeah i do have the short cords. No I havnt tried swapping them I just narrowed it down to that channel is bad.
