Even if you're NOT a newbie the verifier is definitely something you should use. Preferably BEFORE the curtain goes up for the first time. One of those been there, done that scenarios... I've been chasing my tail trying to figure out a couple hitches for the past couple of days. Tonight, after the opening night show ended with the two hitches still there making me crazy, I finally ran the verifier and found that both my hitches were channel conflicts that I had somehow missed - even after going over everything two or three times. Duh...

You're right Doug - LOR is awesome! It's almost beyond description to stand across the street and see a life-size version of the visualizer come alive!

I've got a question about the Verifier. I use the same machine year after year for my show, and I keep all of the old shows on the computer. How can I make the verifier only look in the directory that I have my 2009 show in? In other words, I don't care about my 2008 show, but it still shows up with some errors in the verifier. Any help would be appreciated. Can't wait to start the show tonight!

I think the only way around the verifier doing its thing with previous year's shows is to move or delete those old show files from the same directory as your current files are in.

AAAHHHHH..... to stand across the street and watch the show for the first time this year was AWESOME. added minitrees, strobes and other stuff. didnt finish settting up until 630pm (was suposed to turn on lights at 6pm)and didnt "test run" the show fully until the show went live. but all went well. the neighbors started setting up chairs at 430pm, were outside at 530, so they watched as we worked feverishly ( no pressure) to get it done and make sure the stuff put up today was working right. it was worth the wait. lots of smiles, clapping, and cheering. and yes the verifier is very helpful, figured out was messed up, old & new stuff in the same show, some audio files didnt move over, easy fix once i knew what to fix.

EVERYONE ENJOY THIS YEAR.

Dale,

I live on hwy 34. the snow made everything a disaster! i had to have a guy plow my drive and he showed up while I was at work. he pushed snow right onto yard and ruined half my display taking out candy canes and reindeer and the snow covered all my ground lights. all this beofre i could even get a video. I am going to try to leave things as they are and wait for the snow to melt and try to get a video before i put them away. sorry i didnt see this post until now.

The Verifier checks the following things:

(1) Some LOR and Windows configuration;
(2) Your schedule;
(3) The shows in your schedule;
(4) The sequences in the shows in your schedule.

So, to get it to stop checking your 2008 show, remove those shows from your schedule.

I think the only way around the verifier doing its thing with previous year's shows is to move or delete those old show files from the same directory as your current files are in.

No, this won't work. In fact, I believe it will make the Verifier complain that it can't find your shows that you have scheduled.

You can leave your old shows in place; just don't schedule them.

For the newbies, and without having the software in front of me ... what does the verify do, where do you find it ?!

The Verifier will check any show that you have scheduled. So, remove the old shows from your schedule, and it will no longer check them.

I think the only way around the verifier doing its thing with previous year's shows is to move or delete those old show files from the same directory as your current files are in.

If you do this, and don't remove them from the schedule, this will (or at least should!) cause the Verifier to complain that those shows, which you have scheduled, can't be found.

Oh, wow, now I see that this is an old thread, and I gave pretty much the exact same reply a year ago as I just gave a moment ago! Whoops. I guess my clue should have been that he was asking how to make it check only his 2009 show.

Anyway, to respond to the new question:

For the newbies, and without having the software in front of me ... what does the verify do, where do you find it ?!

It checks for various potential problems in your setup (your Windows configuration, your LOR configuration, your schedule, your scheduled shows, your sequences in scheduled shows).

You can start it up the same way you start (for example) the Sequence Editor - i.e. from the LOR Control Panel, or from your computer's Start menu.

More information about the Verifier can be found on the following help file page:
