Guest guest
Tell them your Clark Griswold - anything is possible!Seriously, try and find something they can relate too - if they are into cars, then try to explain what an LOR controller does in relation to cars/animation. Some people don't have the ability to understand unless they can relate to it.Bill

I will normally direct them to my website - tell them to go to the links area and then if they have any questions to feel free and e-mail me. Most the time it seems when people ask that, they don't want a 10-minute discussion of computer control techniques, planning, etc. Kind of like when someone asks "hey how's it going?" they don't really want to hear about your hemerhoids and bad breath issues....So, I usually just say a computer controls the lights, and I program it to have them react to the music. If they want to go deeper, they'll keep asking questions, and you can explain how an SSR is basically an electronic lightswitch, etc...Incidentally I also get a lot of comments like "oh you're a software engineer so that must be why you can understand this stuff". Then I get to tell them it's all off-the-shelf products that anyone who can click colored boxes in an LOR grid could do .-Tim
