Theresa Severson
Can someone help with the following questions on SD Cards:1. I thought I read somewhere (but can't find it now) that LOR recommended using only certain brand name SD cards with their units for some reason but now I cannot find that reference. Can I use any type of SD card as long as it is a standard card?2. I was waiting for LOR to send me some extra SD Cards and went shopping to buy some and stopped at RadioShack. The salesperson told me I could use any type of SD card, that no standard SD card has any special characteristics over another, and that all standard SD cards are already formatted for FATT 16 and I did not have to format any of the SD cards I purchased. True or False?2. If I want to change the show that is on my SD Card can I just go through Simple Show Builder, redo it and save it to the card and it will get rid of the previous one or do I have to delete what was on the card previously?3. If I have to delete what was on the card previously, how do I do that? Reformat it or is there some other way?All my lights are now up and all I have left to do is get my musical sequencing in order... that's all. Thanks for everyone's help!! chartrand
I use my computer to drive the show, not an SD card. But the radio shack person is right SD cards are a standard and they all should work, with the only exceptions size, and the other being speed. Not all cards are created equal and some are way faster than others. Since your reading .MP3 and playing music, it may be desirable to have one of the faster ones.Your questions are easily enough answered by doing some testing if you don't get someone here who also uses the cards.Good LuckPat

Can I use any type of SD card as long as it is a standard card?I have too read this discussed on the boards and at PC. The manual says so too. Lexar Media and SimpleTech are what LOR lists in the mini-director manual.2. I was waiting for LOR to send me some extra SD Cards and went shopping to buy some and stopped at RadioShack. True or False?Probably a function of quality differences between different manufacturers--maybe any good brand name would be fine, but stay away from no-names (probably a good idea for any type of storage media). Not just a function of "will it work" but also "how long will it last."2. (Deja vu) If I want to change the show that is on my SD Card can I just go through Simple Show Builder, redo it and save it to the card and it will get rid of the previous one or do I have to delete what was on the card previously?Correct, it will write over your previous show. Not sure that if after long use (years?) if it is best to re-format.3. If I have to delete what was on the card previously, how do I do that? DanR
I have had experience this year with SD cards for the Director. I had two other name brands besides the SD card that was sent with the unit. I could write a show all the time to all SD cards. In the director though, one SD card would not work at all. The other SD card would sometimes start at showtime and other times would not start at all - it always got to the point of the quick double blink of the yellow LED like a show was ready to start - and then nothing. Unplugging the card and plugging it back in started the show many times.I thought something was wrong with the director, but the card sent with the controller worked all the time. I ended up ordering a couple more SD cards from LOR and had no problems since.HTH,Dan

No need to reformat everytime.Darryl
EARLE W. TALLEY
Theresa,I have tried the SANDISK multi-use cards and they will also work. I got mine from Target for $9.99 on sale. The LEXAR cards can be purchased at Target also for about the same price. I read or saw somewhere that the largest sd card that can be used is 2GB. I don't think you will ever use or need that much space. I put 24 songs on the 512MB card and had lots of space left. When you want to create a new show it will wright over the old without any problems.
