Roger Leon Forbes
Connecting LOR units to 120 volt lines, have 40 lines from panel box 120 volts, 15 amps, phase one and two of course. My question is does it matter to a LOR unit if it is on the same phase of do I have to insure the phase is split? Thanks roger
-klb-
On single phase, with standard wiring, it does not matter.
rmturner54
That is correct, single phase does not matter for operation. But from a safety standpoint Iwould keep the hots and neutrals in the correct configuration....hot to hot and neutral to neutral.Richard
Roger Leon Forbes
Thanks I understand about keeping things stright. I use two power feeds for each LOR unit at 15 amps each and have 24 single lines from the panel out. I never marked each as to witch phase they where on and if it had been a problem I was going to go back and do so. Thanks again for the help and keeping this newbie stright, still have a lot to learn.
Jeff Sand
The two halves of an LOR board can be on opposite sides of single split-phase service, i.e. two circuits that would measure 240V between each other. Since this is still single-phase service, LOR will work.If you hook it up to two legs of a three-phase service, it will not work right. The left side of the board will not dim correctly. If you're using residential service in North America, you don't need to worry.
