Guest guest
I am a newbie and have been lurking for six months. I know that the issue of protecting the LOR units has been tossed around numerous times. I don't recall any post addressing the enclosures of LOR. Some use wooden boxes, metal boxed and PVC type. There seems to be a split opinion as to wheather the enclosures should be completely water tite or able to "breath". What is the up side or down side of boxes with sealed gaskets and the use of watertite connectors for the incoming cat5 and pigtail connections making the enclosure completely water proof and NO way for the ablity to "breath". I am in nashville and hot weather in December is not an issue most of the time!
Guest guest
My opinion is that they should be able to breathe. Electrical equipment puts ut heat and unless it has a place to escape to you may end up with problems. In addition, nothing with a hole drilled into it is watertight, therefore soem humidity will get in and mix with that heat creating condensation.
