Mr Frosty
I am trying to access my controllers to update firmware, assign id's etc. I can turn on the console and switch all my lights on and off, my shows are working, but I can not get the Hardware Utility to find my controllers which prevents me from doing anything else I need to do.The com port is 3, 8-n-1 9600 baud, I am using a USB485B adapter on an XP machine.I have tried a vista machine and another xp machine and other USB Ports, updated to ver 2.60.0 and all are doing the same thing,. Guest wbottomley
What version of Hardware Utility are you using?

-klb-
Just some background checks: Sequence editor not running, or not set to control lights. Control panel not loaded, or not enabled. Com port on hardware utility set to the same com port that is successfully controlling lights. Max Unit ID set higher than the highest controller you are trying to find.I'm curious how you know the speed and parity settings of the com port, as I beleve the hardware utility sets all that when it opens the port. Also, I could easily be mistaken, but I don't remember (and don't see in the documentation) that LOR will run as slow as 9600.
Mr Frosty
All off and my com3 is set at those settings when I look at it in the hardware manager.
evan.a
you need to plug in ur 485usb addapter. do a search under utility. your hardware should come up. and if you dont have any controlers plug in. you wont be able to locate hardware. plug at lease one controler with a couple of lights for testing let me know if that works and make sence
Mr Frosty
The auto Detect does not show anything, it defaults to Comm 3, and my show runs as if it is Unit 1, BUT I can not upgrade software, load firmware etc, I can go to console and turn lights on and off.for what ever reason, it is affecting my new controllers and my old controllers that already were just used for Halloween and all worked fine with the show. The Hardware Utility does not recognize any device connected to the USB485B
-klb-
Have you tried a different cable between the USB485B and the controller? Or moving one controller next to the computer, and a short cable?
Mr Frosty
I have tried different cables, different pc and unloaded and reloaded drivers...I am getting frustrated.....Thanks for everyones help I am sure we can get this fixed
JeffF
I'd be interested in what you find out because my only CTB16D doesn't show up in the hardware utility but works fine with the sequence editor and for the shows. I've tried resetting it, different computer, different USB cable, different USB adapter, different network cable, etc. All without any luck. Salts
I thought mine wasn't being found either until I lowered the max id down to 10 since I only have two controllers I could have put it at 2. Anyway after doing that the search goes a lot faster and the drop down menu shows the controller ID and the firmware version. On a hunch you do not have your older controller and newer controller set to the same id on the switches that are on the board do you?
evan.a
if you hav a dyi kit.you need to assign each box individual. connct 1 box at a time (dyi kit) assign id. you cannot connect 2 or more to assign a id. mush do one at a time.if you yhave a 16 control. Mr Frosty
It looks like I finally got the unit id to change from 01 to 03, and 01 to 04, however I still can not search for them or upload new firmware, it starts to upload to controller and gets stuck "Grabbing Unit".
