halloweenqueen
Sorry, did a search and found nothing.I have used my LOR in the past during Halloween only. I do a pumpkin choir and light show that night only. Just 16 channel, but it does the job.I was thinking of using LOR this Christmas, but don't want to mess with fm transmitters, etc. Just would like to make some neat effects on my light display. I have a new house so the landscaping makes it difficult to hang enough lights to really make a great display, but I thought I could play with change the light color, etc.Has anyone done this in the past? Would it just be choatic without music? Look silly? Thanks in adance for your advice!
George Simmons
I haven't personally tried that, but I don't think it would look bad. If you had a mega display it definitely wouldn't make any sense to people who see the lights dancing and swaying without hearing the music. But if all you're wanting to do is create some random effects in a static display I think it would look just fine - kind of like having a multi-function set of lights on steroids... SDembski
I remember that there used to be a few displays that were using LOR hardware without music synchronization, but that was a couple of years ago.
bisquit476
Here is an animation sequence I used last year, just some basic stuff. Attached files 2008 Animation sequence.las
michael spencer
Instead of having your lights on and off radomly why not try fading one set of light into an adjacent set I think you might achieve a more pleasing effect. Worth a try.
Don
The week of Thanksgiving the display is usually ready to go. I won't start the light 'show' until Friday, however. In the mean time, I tend to run the display with slow fades across the display. Works out really well. halloweenqueen
PP, that's what I'm thinking. I usually like my display to be one solid color. I was thinking that I would use white, blue, red, and green LEDs and fade in and out and my the display colors all change in synch. Maybe add some twinkle or shimmer every now and then. -klb-
I know someone who had built his own controller, without music. His animations tended to be a rotation between several different yard scenes, and was rather neat just like that. After enough people walked up and asked "Hey mister, where's the music?" he eventually switched to LOR. cmoore60
I had animated lights long before I had synchronized lights. This year I have 6 songs. they will run on the 1/2 hour. The songs amount to 19 minutes and some change. To feel out the remainder of that 1/2 i am using animated sequences. This can also work with a full synchronized display to help with traffic flow.Chuck
iresq
I have not settled on my show times for this year but typically will run the lights with an animation sequence for a couple of hours after my musical show.Mostly color fades with an occasional arch bounce, mega spin, and mini chase.
