jim6918
I feel just like the kid who snuck downstairs on Christmas morning and saw the Lionel train set under the Christmas Tree and everybody else was still asleep.I couldn't sleep this morning so I got up about 5 and transfered everything over from my desktop to my show laptop, which heretofore had only been used for testing controllers and channels. I knew I would probably have to reassociate the media files, so I opened up a sequence. I hit play just to make sure it worked. Glancing out the window, I noticed my live 16 channel mega tree doing it's thing. I didn't know that you could play individual sequences thru the SE; I thought I would have to set up shows, etc. I was so excited I almost ran out of the house in my shorts. That would have really convinced the neighbors, if any had been awake, just how nuts I really am. I ran through every sequence, hitting play and running like hell out of the house to watch. I knew every note of the songs, even though I couldnt hear a sound.I have just over half of my lights up and connected, but I could instantly see the results of all my hours works before my eyes. I almost had to wake my wife up and tell her, then thought better of it. Well, I just had to tell somebody, so here it is.Now I really understand the insanity that is LOR. Can't wait for the rest of the lights to go up.
iresq
It's really an incredible feeling to see the fruits of your labor. After I am set up, I bring my laptop outside and connect to the closest controller. I set up a coffee table, chair and small desk lamp. I usually also have something warm to drink. I run through each of my sequences several times making sure my timings are accurate and that I am getting the effect I was looking for. I perform minor adjustments and check the results. I take notes for larger changes and do those changes back inside. My kids get all their friends together and set up chairs to watch or spread blankets to watch. They constantly barrage me to replay the songs they really like. I complain and object and replay the songs that they want to here . Last year they made me bring small amplified speakers to plug into the lappy.Like just about every project in my house, having the kids help makes the project take twice as long (they usually take twice as long without their help anyway) and I would have it no other way. ItsMeBobO
Don't wake her to tell her you are excited. Cool Jim. I have been setting up for a few days but no tests yet. Can't wait.If your transmitter is on, you can carry a portable radio or put a boom box on the porch to hear it.Also, There is a loop at end option when playing from SE. So you can see what was missed in the beginning after the last notes.
jim6918
Good idea about the boom box and loop. 18 mini trees go in next weekend and I'm working on 16 channel arch. Then a few miscellaneous items and I am done. Thanksgiving night here I come.

jimswinder
I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way...but most of my joy and excitement will be from watching the smiles on those watching my display in action. but I sure am looking forward to the few nights before Thanksgiving (since this is my first LOR year) when I start testing everything!!! If you are entering the Canadian Forum contest or any other contest. Stiff competition, but I am not in it, so you have one less contestant to think about.I have my 2 mini mega trees up and the 16 mini trees two colour up. Looks good during testing. I have about 18,000 lights up with about 3,000 more to go......then it is show time on November 26th.I need to remember to do my neighbours house next week.....it is part of the show.Hope to see you on the Canadian forum
NWSanta
Uggh, I am so jealous that you all have lights up already. I don't have anything up yet. My controllers are in the yard and a few things here and there. I just am running out of time. I hope to get a bunch done this weekend as I'm off THu-Saturday but, we'll have to see what curve balls life throws at me this week. I think I'll be spending a few late nights out in the yard.....-Evan

Greg
I am almost set up, ran a few tests last night on the items i have up, and got a small audience. I took the day off of work today, should have the rest up today, maybe run a full test tonight. I agree it is a great feeling seeing several months or work come to lifegreg
