Jeremy Wiles
I have a mixture of controllers, some blue some green boards. I would like to update the firmware on all of them but I'd rather NOT open them up and find out what color the board is unless I have to.It was said in this thread: http://lightorama.mywowbb.com/forum76/20241.htmlthat if you attempt to download the wrong firmware to the wrong board, the hardware utility would not let you.Can someone from LOR confirm this? Can I do my updates this way? first trying green then trying blue? Obviously I don't want to brick anything...If I have to go crack them open I will, I'd just like to know either way.Thanks!J. They will reject it.The hardware Utility will allow you to open the incorrect file and it will allow you to click the download button BUT then it will come back with an error (invalid firmware file for this controller) or some verbiage along that line.We do have a mistake with the firmware file codes. This happened a few years ago. Both the CMB16D and the CTB16PC have the same code for their firmware files. Thus it is possible to download a CMB16D firmware file to a CTB16PC and visa versa. When upgrading firmware I have always recommended that you do so with only one controller attached at a time and to only upgrade firmware when necessary. I believe those are good rules to follow. However the system will allow for you to upgrade firmware with the controllers connected in the network. If you happen to have two controllers with the same Unit ID the results may not be good.
jeffl
I have 34 controllers. With most being the PC model and 4 being 1602W. WhatI find confusing is the support page for firmware there are "uses this version" instead of just putting a link button to the file that should be used.It would clear up a lot of confusion at the start if there was a "firmware" link button for each model even though they point to the same file. The tool tips are also out-of-date which should be updated or removed beings firmware levels change periodically. Some say 4.2 and the file is actualy 4.3. LightORamaDan
We are going to replace the whole support page with something better and that will include much better firmware organization and documentation.
Cblood
Dan, I have read different things and I'm sitll a bit confused, I have CTB16D controllers, with updated 4.30 on them I just ordered another CTB16D and added it to the system and it states 4.40 Firmware but the download page only has 4.30. Is there a 4.40 that is available or I'm not sure what to ask next.ThanksCurt

If you want to upgrade, feel free but don't worry about the different versions.
cmoore60
4.40 is because of the change to in the processor that necessitated the new version. Somewhere I did read a post where Dan stated such. Chuck
