jimswinder
I have been running/testing my LOR sequences on my desktop with Windows XP, but was planning on doing the actual show on my Vista laptop.Got all my sequences transferred over and tried to run a test tonight and ran into a few problems.1) I can't even get the controllers to link up to my laptop and2) I click on "Control Lights" under the "Play" menu, start and stop the sequence, go back to the "Play" menu and the "Control Lights" are no longer clicked on.Thoughts??Update: OK...got it to link up...but still have issue #
SDembski
On the LOR control panel either unload it or disable shows and that should solve the issue of the control lights option unchecking itself after you play the sequence in the editor. jimswinder
Unloaded LOR and Disabled Shows and it still un-checks itself as soon as I hit the play button.I did notice the following:While in the Hardware Utility, I can run a test and both controllers are linked and work in test mode (all lights can be lit)...but as soon as I exit the Hardware Utility, the controllers become unlinked (red LED lights begin flashing).????Update:Now I notice the attached error every time I reopen the Hardware Utility. Should I be having to find the Com Port every time?? Attached files lor error.pdf
Darryl Lambert
Have you set the Comm port in the sequence editor? It's located in the network preferences from the edit tab.Darryl
SDembski
Do you have the Hardware utility open while you are trying to play a sequence with the editor?I noticed that when I start the hardware utility first and then load the sequence editor I have to also manually enable the control lights option. It will then turn off after I start to play the sequence. As far as I can remember I don't think that you should need to find the comm port every time unless the comm port# keeps changing. I would recommend checking the port settings for the adapter that you are using especially if it is a USB adapter.
cmoore60
Are you using one of the USB adapters? There was an issue some time ago that would cause a comm port to lock up if things were disconnected while live (meaning actively communicating).Might check for updated usb drivers.Yes it is normal for the LED to flash when you close the Hardware utility. You can also ONLY have one of these open at a time and be able to control lights.1 hardware utility2 Sequence editor3 shows enabledChuck
jimswinder
Yep...using one of the USB adapters.Actually, the laptop did go out and search for a USB driver when I plugged in the USB connection for the first time in my laptop.Works fine on my XP Desktop...but not on my Vista Laptop...I'm thinking maybe the USB connections in my laptop are not good...but all THREE of them???? brownjm74
I am also using Vista and I haven't had any problems so far "Knock on Wood". However looking at your PDF file, Jim I notice that you don't have a unit selected in the "Select Unit to Configure...Download Test" or in your "Setup Comm Port" Now if you have your controller plugged in and connected with the cat5 first click on the "Setup Comm Port" it will ask you if you want to use the port found the USB /cat5 cable. Click yes, and then go to "Select Unit to Configure...Download Test" and click refresh. My Wife unplugged the USB last night and my screen looked just like yours does in the PDF. Once I did what I described everything started to work. Just as a note: I only have one controller, so things may be different if you have multiple units.Jeremy

So the screen shot is BEFORE I click on the Set-Up Comm Port button.

I will start up the program tonight when I get home and let you know what I find. However each time I have started my computer I had to refresh the "Select Unit to Configure" to get it to work.Jeremy

tyler9613
Have you checked this thread out?http://lightorama.mywowbb.com/forum90/19966.htmlI don't know if it would help your problem, but the fact that its loosing the com port could be because Vista is running checks on the hardware. But I'm not sure. It's worth a shot, though...-Tyler

Darryl Lambert
I knew it all along!!! Nah.. Really, the same thing happend to me last year. But I don't believe that each sequence is attached to a port. Instead I think that some people, like us, have to manually set there com port in the sequence editor. Glad I could help. :cool:Darryl
