eldoradoboy
ive got a myriad of different firmwares on my PC controllers and I fear that will make a mess of my display.. I bought some controllers this year, some last year, and one came from someone who bought it that didnt want it... so I have some with 4.30, some with 4.32, and one with 4.40...how can I get them all on 4.40.. I find just 4.30 on the website for LOR support....-Christopher

eldoradoboy
I thought that it came with the program too... however my firmware folder has files from 2007 in it.... 4.02 is the version in my LOR firmware directory.....-Christopher
Dennis Cherry
Start the hardware utility and take the steps to update a controller, but do not push the update button. You should see a list of the available firmware revisions for that controller.I believe the firmware revisions are stored elsewhere now. -klb-
As of LOR 2.5.2, the latest version installed is 4.32. Not sure when 4.40 will be available for upgrades. However, there is no need for all your controllers to be on the same release. If you want to use the fading shimmer and twinkle, you do need at least 4.30 minimum on controllers that you want to do that feature. 4.32 is required if you are using interactive displays, and want normally closed contacts as opposed to the more common normally open contacts. eldoradoboy
I found out 4.40 is a new version for a new revision of the board.. so that firmware has nothing in it that i'll use... im going to try and get 4.32 on everything... as I am using a couple fading twinkles and shimmers... what a great feature that is to have!-Christopher

Anything above 4.20 will have fading shimmer and twinkle.
medman2000
don't mean to hijack but related question - I have 40-some controllers in the yard already, most are the PC version and some are CTB16D. Is there an easy way to know blue vs green board without opening each box (all are in 2nd enclosures and covered by cords/lights/leaves/crap)? If I just guess blue and I'm wrong, does that firmware mess up the board or can I just install green firmware afterwards? Thanks! Want to upgrade to get the fading twinkles
cmoore60
From experience. If you try to download the incorrect (green versus blue) firmware. The hardware utility will let you know. This is according to my doing the upgrade last year with everything in the yard already. But just to be sure, I went out and verified the colors of the boards.Chuck

eldoradoboy
im not downgrading my 4.40 board... sorry my post mislead.. im going to run 4.32 on all PC contyrollers except the new board that requires 4.40 because of the new hardware....I wasnt even considering going below 4.30 on anything..remember im new to LOR.. I boiught equipment early in 08 but didnt use it till this year..with AL if the firmware wasnt exact in all the controllers it made a MESS.. so thats why I asked the question.. it looks llike LOR has done a better job of making firmware versions backwards compatible so that it doesnt bring the network down...-Christopher
