rmkrause
Hi Guys, When I use the Hardware Utility to connect to the controller from my desktop the lamp in the controller burns steady and the box "searching network" comes up and the blue progress bar gets almost to the end and then stops. It all stops working with a (not responding) message. PS this all works from my lap top. Help!! :?Dick
-klb-
Is this while the HW utility is trying to locate the com port to use, or is the com port already correctly configured?

Tim Fischer
What type of controller? Has it ever worked? Has it been assigned a unit ID?
rmkrause
I ordered today a new ubs-rs485 adapter. I have been using a serial port adapter on my lap top and it works fine. Won't work on my desk top. When I get the new one, I'll let you all know how it works.

rmkrause
Hi Guys, After messing around all day and ordering a usb-rs485 from LOR I found and fixed the problem. I have a serial port adapter similar to the one you discribe and show a photo of. When plugging it in and watching "device manager" I found it to be on comm port 9, I clicked on the device and got to it's properties then clicked on driver unplugged the adapter from the computer and uninstalled the driver. OK, then I closed all boxes and when that was done I plugged in the serial port adapter and windows told me the software was being installed. I reconnected the controller and went to the hardware utility and manually set comm port to 9 hit the refresh and it found the controller. Holy $%#& it works.Dick:D
