tomskillman
There are many places around the web selling RGB LED strips. Has anyone used any of these? I'm thinking about ordering some to wash the walls of my house with light....
-klb-
We have 15 of these washing a 44 foot long section of gable end. I would kind of like heavier coverage to get rid of the gaps between units, which show about 1/3 of the way up the wall, but this works well, and is about the maximum span you can get without adding cables between units.http://www.wiedamark.com/colorbar19remotecontrollable.aspxYou must have one of the IR remotes to set the DMX ID, and put them in DMX mode. They also use a connector that is not a standard XLR, but a water resistant, O ring sealed connector, so you need one of their adapter cables, and, where I have some places they don't reach to each other on a different application, I've used their cables, rather than cutting the connectors off, and converting to something cheaper and more compatible. tomskillman
I was thinking of something more like these:http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/LB_RGB.htmhttp://www.theledlight.com/color-changing-Led-lights.htmlhttp://www.elementalled.com/ElementalLED-Store/Full-Color-LED-Products/Flexible-RGB-LED-Light-222/product.htmlJust bare boards with 4-wire control. Could be wired up to 3 channels of a DC controller....
Victory402
10x15" Midia Highlighter Lightbars, Bulk pack 10pcs: CYRON Lighting Online Store10 bucks each for a 15" bar, very easy to wire to Cmb16d, 12v. Each bar uses 3 channels on a controller(R/1, G/2, B/3). They are so bright that I can't even look at them unless I'm 40 feet away. they make great strobes. They come in a semi-sealed tube, I have had a little moisture collect in them, but it doesn't seem to hurt them. Maybe a little silicon here and there would help. they twinkle, shimmer and fade perfectly. I have not tried to get them to shine the pinks or purples.I would stay away from light bars with built in controllers, it can be tough by-passing them to wire them to the LOR controller, unless you want to just power them on and off.I do have to say that your best "bang for the buck" is going to be the CCR. Just do the math and you will see... I'm waiting for the programming to simplify before I take the plunge.Vic
