Troubleshooting help needed...

I finally upgraded from the standard LOR to the LOR 2.1.6 a couple months ago. I tried running my show tonight and noticed some issues. It's a simple Halloween show I'm running mostly off one controller (Controller 2). Channels 1-8 seemed to be running just fine, but channels 9-16 preferred to stay on rather than twinkle or even turn on and off as programmed. First step, run the Hardware Utility. The first red flag here is that it shows Controller 1 as CTB16D ver 3.0 and Controller 2 as as CTB16D ver 4.01. I'm assuming they need to both have the same version, so I try the Firmware option, but see a blue option and a green option. How do I know which one to use? I went ahead and tested each channel on #2 and they seem to work just fine all on, shimmer, and twinkle except for one channel which just wanted to stay on rather than twinkle. Weird. I was also thinking I should double check what version of drivers I have, but can't remember how to find that out.

There actually is no need for the firmware versions to match. However there are features available in the new firmware that are worth having.

If these controllers are in 1602 cases, look around the RJ-45 jacks, and see what color the card is. That color is what needs to match the firmware color listed.

Do you have any CFL lamps in your display, or maybe on the same circuit as one of the inlets on controller 2? Your symptoms sound similar to what happens when there is a CFL connected to the controller.

If you are running v2.1.6, it shouldn't be working at all because I think it expired at the end of July?. Update (latest is 2.4.10) and register your software before you try anything else and see what happens. Don't know if that is causing your problem or not but it might make some strange stuff happen.

Good luck,

I completely forgot about issues with CFL's. Now that you mention that I recall reading about that quite a while ago. I unplugged that cord and then ran a really active sequence (Ghostbusters) and all was well! (I was using spots for my FM sign.)

In regards to the S2 version, I upgraded the first week of August and had to call LOR directly to retrieve an Offline Code since I run the show off a secondary computer. It's my understanding that the software wouldn't operate a show if you hadn't verified authorization (License Key), not necessarily which release you have.

I would think that if you got an offline code then there is no need for online authorization. The software has a way of fully activating even without an internet connection for the software to call home.

Should not be any issue.

Hey Sadayo, Have you fixed your problem. I had the same thing. Was fixed by loading the latest firmware. Hope this helps.
