Cajun Cheesehead Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Has anyone tried checking this? How does the amperage draw on a channel vary in regards to the percentage brightness? For instance, if the lights on one channel draw 2 amps when on full power, how many amps does it draw at 75% or 50% brightness
JBullard Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Several people have posted charts over the years here. The best way to know, is to make your own measurements with your own lights you will be using
iresq Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I did this a couple of years ago and posted on PC. There are others that did this as well. I cannot find my results but they were pretty much in line with the other tests. The percentage of power reduction was much much smaller than the percentage of dim applied to the channel. If I recall correctly, you had to apply close to a 50% dim to notice a moderate change in power draw.
Cajun Cheesehead Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 Thanks. I found the thread on PC, it is not linear. At 50% intensity, the lights are still drawing over 50% of the full intensity amps.
