I hope everyone had a great long weekend. I spent today finalizing my planning and channel updates, so, OK, admittedly it's been a long week, and day today. However, I thought I remembered that if you modified a sequence to make a new template (add channels, move others around), then imported the new template, that the import would insert the new channels as is defined in the new template, and then shift the existing channels and programming to their new locations as well.

I did add quite a few channels last year in 2008, and can not remember if I hand edited the existing sequences first by adding the "new" channels then importing the template. I am brain dead right now.

I know the work around, but thought I would get a sanity check.

I haven't had to do that shuffle since Christmas 2007, but as I remember, the channels are added in the same order as they are in the template, but the programming does not shift to compensate. I always add my channels at the bottom of the grid, export the template, import it to all my sequences, and then manually move the channels in each sequence.

DT,

Yeeaahh, that is what I remember as well, now that I have one sequence updated.

I just open up 2 vertically next to each other. Pre-import, I add/delete channels comparing side by side the updated to the old. Once the update is done, boom, import the new template. It takes me about 15 minutes per sequence taking my time. I don't add new channels at the bottom, rather all around, but at least they are in bunches for the most part.

I would be nice, if the import would do that comparison for us.

I work with tracks for different things like mega tree, mini trees, arches, etc. I've learned that for new stuff that you add to the bottom you never have to worry - importing the newest version of the configuration adds those channels/tracks flawlessly to older sequences.

When I add new items to existing tracks however, such as adding another dozen mini trees, I have to manually place those channels in the older version of the sequence, and then import the newest channel configuration.

Maybe someday Bob and the crew will make it as easy as sorting rows in a spreadsheet.
