LOR music ???

Is there a shortcut to
a) stop the music while sequencing so that it stops at a desired location
and
if there's a way, is there a way that I can pinpoint that position

I feel that I'm not communicating very well, so this is what I'd like to do ...

While working on a sequence I'll be watching the animation while listening to the music. Sometimes I'll see a spot where I think I need an effect but by the time I click on the "stop" button, it's way past that spot. Dumb, huh?

Any pointers and/or tips will be greatly appreciated.
