Guest guest
Dan or John,Earlier this year I purchase my first 16D hobbyist board with the starter kit. The starter kit came with the SC485 adapter. I have been successful with using the SC485 with a USB adapter for my laptop because the laptop has no RS232 port. I remember reading that with the SC485 adapter there is a length limit on the cable from the computer to the first controller. Is the length limit still the same when using the USB485B? I am thinking that if the limit is somewhat longer I would be wise to go the extra and purchase the USB485B adapter now. This would allow the ability to use some future features such as reading inputs from cards yet to be released.Chuck
Guest guest
If I recall what Dan told me ...When using the USB485B the distance limitation from the device to the first LOR controller has been removed. So long as you stay within the limitations of board to board (+/- 1000ft) you will be okay.If I'm wrong, I'll erase this message.
