need help connecting 2 controllers together

i have to controllers both are 1602w, i set both of theme up and are working fine, but when i connect the 2 controllers together the red light on both controllers go off and nothing happens, what im i doing wrong, i been doing this for 5 years now and never had this problem, can anyone give me some help with this, thanks.

Please verify that the CAT5 cable is good.

i use a phone cable and then a cat5 cable and when the two are connected both of the red light go out and nothing works, by themself they work fine.

New != Good 100% of the time...

Can you verify the following:

Whichever controller your phone wire plugs into, it must go in the small jack. If you have phone wire going out of a controller, it must go out the rightmost jack (NOT the small jack).

Having the LED's go out when pluging in another controller is a symptom of crossed wiring, in my experience, and that usually happens when phone wires aren't installed in the proper jacks.
