scubanimal Posted November 25 Posted November 25 I have 3 pixie4 boards, 2 of which are mounted in the same box, for testing using the same network cable, supplied by the same power supply, as far as I can tell they are the same vintag3 (old, have 1.01 firmware), I'm using v6.3.6 software/hardware LOR suite. These 2 pixie4s drive 8 mini xmas trees 100 pixels each. I'm using the same pixels in all 8 of these mini xmas trees. Best I can tell the hardware is the same prop and controller. In the hardware configuration both pixies are set up with the same configuration. WS2811, 800Hrz, RGB, 100 pixels. Yet when I use the hardware test one pixie the props behave as expected when told Red, they show Red. The other Pixie when told output Red, lights Green. I've tried Changing the RGB to GBR as well as the other combos, but it always shows Green when I expect Red, Blue when expecting Green, and Red when expecting Blue. Again same make/model of pixels all ordered at same time from LOR, other details, Enhanced LOR, 500K. I tried swapping out the Pixie4 for my spare yet same results.... So this has to be software configuration issue, but I can't figure this one out..... Everything seems the same yet I'm getting different results. Any suggestions ???? Thank you for any clues you might be able to provide. Ian
tlogan Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Did you change the order in the HW or the software Prop Definition? It can be done in both places and one might be overriding the other.
TheDucks Posted November 25 Posted November 25 I always had trouble with the 'master?' setting. The one where you specified the type. Expanding that (port level) always worked.
scubanimal Posted November 25 Author Posted November 25 Thank you both for the ideas, I'm not sure also of which is the master setting, put at the moment am just working with the controller setup => Hardware Utility tool. But I agree there must be another setting somewhere that is overwriting, just not sure where it is in the controller menus. I'll keep looking. Thank you!

The 'master' setting is like on P15 of the manual (called simple). The one you want is on P16 (Advanced) S6 will look different, but there is a similar config.

After more testing today, I think there may be a software bug, as the Pixie4 is not accepting the configuration change. I did try the new S6 Test Lights option today, and when I told it a different configuration, then the lights behaved as expected. But when I tried to send that configuration via the controller setup => hardware utility it does not take. I did try upgrading the firmware, but none of the versions I tried seemed to have a positive affect. Thank you for your advice. Ian

If they are on, chances are the ID setting you're trying to set will be ignored and not be set. Those dip switches should ALL be in the OFF SETTING for any hardware settings to take through the software settings, like the HU for older versions and the Control Panel for newer software versions of the LOR SUITE.

The do not have any dip switches. All the jumpers on the board are open; just like the other board that works fine. I've narrowed it down to the board not accepting the Triple order, it did fine accepting the jump from 50 to 100 pixels per port, but does not seem to accept the triplite order. As they are on same line and same button to config, I am at a loss as to why. Thank you for the thoughts. Ian
TheDucks Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Have you tried a hard reset? Hold the white button while powering up until the LED flashes quickly.

scubanimal Posted November 26 Author Posted November 26 Ducks, Thank you, good idea, I’ll try that. It was a new (fresh out of the box card) so assumed was fine but that is a good idea. Thank you!

scubanimal Posted November 26 Author Posted November 26 Orville & Ducks, Thank you very much for the input, I just was able to fix it, and the lights work as expected. First I did a hard reset. While waiting I went back into the advanced seetings and noticed a check box I had missed. Using the advanced menu I had to by port change the triplet order. That solved it. again thank you for your help. Now to start installing these props. Best, Ian
