sodajosh Posted November 24 Posted November 24 I have 4 Pixie8 daisy chained in a DMX environment. When the 1st Pixie8 is plugged in with power, none of the 3 Pixie8s behind it in the daisy chain get the data for the show so they all stay off. If I unplug the 1st Pixie8, the data flows properly and the 3 Pixie8s after it perform properly. Does anybody know what would cause that? Is it just a bad Pixie8? Does it just need to be replaced? Since the other Pixie8s behind it in the daisy chain perform properly when the first one is unplugged, it makes me believe that the cables are transmitting correctly.
k6ccc Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Very carefully visually inspect the RJ-45 jacks on the suspect Pixie8. What you are looking for is the 8 pins not nicely parallel. Sometimes one will get crossed up with another pin. Usually this can be fixed with careful use of a SMALL probe with a hook on the end. You may find that the suspect Pixie8 will only work if the signal source is plugged into one of the connectors. See above. If it can't be resolved, re-arrange your cables to the suspect Pixie8 is the end of the network. See if that makes it all working. 2
TheDucks Posted November 24 Posted November 24 What are the LED's on each Pixie doing? (On, Blink or OUT). If Out, unplug the CAT5 to it. Does it come on (blink)? That may indicate a badly built CAT5 that is overloading the AUX power on pins 3-6. On a Gen 2 Pixie. Remove the jumper JP2.
