jtindale Posted November 20 Posted November 20 I'm apologize in advance. I know the xLights questions have to be a little annoying sometimes. Last year I used xLights for my singing faces. I *think* I made my sequence in xLights, converted it to LMS, opened that in S6, copied the relevant rows and then pasted it into my show (which was in another file). This year, I CANNOT get this working. For some reason, the export comes in from xLights as 900 individual channels and none match up. Even if I convert the xLights sequence into a LCB file and try to use the clipboard method, I get issues with channel alignment. I dont recall it being this hard last year... but maybe it was. In xLights my only prop is my singing tree and in S6 my only prop is my singing tree. I was hoping that would make the import easy. Both props are RGBs, 300 nodes/900 channels. In S6, it seems to group the RBG channels under the pixel node (so meaning 300 pixels with 3 channels each) whereas xLights is just raw dumping 900 channels. Any help would be appreciated. I've been banging away at this for 3 days now. 🤯 Here is what my LMS import looks like. I'm including these screenshots to show what the channels look like in both scenarios (the LOR prop vs the xLights imported prop). Here is what the prop looks like in S6: Here is what the prop looks like when I try to open the LMS file and choose the option to start a new preview.
jtindale Posted November 21 Author Posted November 21 (edited) Well, after days of struggling and getting nowhere it dawned on me that maybe I could copy the mouth movement elements out of the xLights xsq file and directly into a S6 loredit file. Both files are xml based and easy to navigate and after spending just a couple of hours on the task from research to coding to testing, it works. If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to share. Maybe I'll post the PowerShell code on GitHub. I'm really surprised this isn't natively supported and I'm even more surprised it's so hard to use the xLight's convert process to create an LMS and just open that in S6. Maybe just no one else uses this workflow, so maybe its just me. Edited November 21 by jtindale
hasslerk Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Every time I start to think about using xLights to convert some of the readily available free sequences to LOR for use in my show, I usually do not get very far. It just seems like so much more work than what I think it should take. I really only look at it for singing faces to avoid all that work of doing it myself, but in the end I end up sequencing it myself anyways.
