All sequences freeze up at the start of the sequence.  Running windows 7       4.3.24    Worked perfectly last week

Is this running the sequence in the sequencer or is this happening when running an actual show?

Where does the freeze up begin, does the sequence even start at all?  If so, how far into the sequence does it get before it freezes up?

We need a bit more details on what you're doing when this is happening, so we can try and figure out if it's a sequence coding issue, or something else creating the problem.

Look at the heart-beat lights inside of the controller(s) and insure they are still being talked to

It should be steady. If it is beating slow, no LOR Showtime/Director seen. Fast is a controller issue.

Thanks, I should have added the speed of the lights too. My thoughts are related to if his USB port the adapter is plugged into, is being shut down by his computer's power management. If the heart-beat light is suddenly blinking when the sequence locks up, then power management might be something to look at. If still on steady, then that's not the issue at all. I would then examine the antivirus and firewall to insure they aren't stopping things. Also, the software updating process might be kicking in. A quick check of the task manager should tell the tale on it.

Does it happen only once after you made changes to your sequences? If so, then it’s related to creating the playback file. All versions have this, (including S6, it’s just more transparent in the UI).

Here is how you can resolve that first time freeze. Even though this is S5 documentation, I am pretty sure S4 also had it.

What is your CPU status at when it freezes?
