Dr_Aplet Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Some recent questions in this forum including my own have me asking some sequencing questions about pixels. This year i am trying to add 4 pixel arches. I would like to know how to fade in and out an effect? How do i blend 2 effects so they transition and continue with the latter effect? How can i stretch or shrink and effect? What is the best effect to use to sweep/ bounce across my arches? Now i have to modify all my sequences to accommodate the new pixels and would like to do my sequencing as fast as possible without making it look like i was just dropping stuff in the box. Thanks for all your insights. if there is a youtube video that you know about thats great too.
tlogan Posted November 12 Posted November 12 The quick way to add fades on pixels is to use the Motion Effects Row and place your fades there. The real trick here is to group your arches and add a motion effect row to the group. That way you can fade ALL arches at once or each one individually. You can do the same with other effects in the motion effects row.
Box on Rails Posted November 12 Posted November 12 For leaping arches the Single Block Motion effect is best. It is explained here in this video. 1

gsmith37064 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 (edited) What is your prop set up for the arches? I assume 1 row at 50 pixels? You can enable channel level and get better results. I use both options. Motion rows for standard leaping and things like that. If I want to get crazy with fades and blends, I do it at the channel level. You could spend weeks or more trying to reproduce it with a motion row. Where is Steven? That man is beast in getting some damn good results with motion rows!! Take a look at some of my youtube videos. You can tell whats a motion row and whats channel level. Edited November 13 by gsmith37064

My arches are 2 rows 50 pixels total for each prop. I have watched the videos for Luminous harmony and Light O Rama. Still looking for more detailed but i think i will just start playing with it. it sounds like to add a fade i need to add a second motion row and insert something there.

If you have Team Viewer, I would be glad to remote in and show you what you can do at the channel level. It sounds scary, but it's nothing to it. Once you get going, you will be amazed at the simplicity of it. A 100 pixels arch would be fine and super simple to sequence. That's nothing more than 2 normal aches if you think about it. Just a little more fancy. Unless you just want to stay 100% motion rows. My arches are 3 rows deep. 66 pixels per row arch. Edited November 13 by gsmith37064
PhilMassey Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Create a fade or resize a motion effect using the Edge dragging tool. it's the red icon to the right of the Nudge group. Toggle it on and the handles will appear at the start and end of all motion rows. There are two handles an angle for fades and a cross for resizing depending on the mouse position. They are tricky to grab at first till you get used to it. Have two motion rows for everything and you can have an effect in each and drag the fades exactly where you want them to get the transition, just like a video editor, which is kinda what Sequencing has turned into.

Thank you for this nugget if information. 6 years in and i have scratched the surface of the program. Admittedly I am just starting into pixels. each effect you can use the edge tool and grab they angle shape to fade out/ in an effect then if i add a second motion row i can overlap effects and crossfade them even with the angle handle and layer basis. And also if i understand correctly blending happens on a layer basis starting on the first motion row and the last motion row will take precedence over everything above it.
