masonis.king Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Hello, i purchased a residential 16 channel lot controller a few years back and never had time to use it. This year i plan too and was looking at some premade sequences and i was curious how the setup usually goes. Iv got a few less peaks / windows then the showcase so do i need the ready to go, or the edit one?
Dr_Aplet Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Hi Masonis, Welcome to the forum. I started a few years ago with just one 16 channel like you. I have made my own sequences, used some from ebay and purchased some from LOR. The LOR sequences are were the best by far. Especially to just get started. I would tell you to splurge on the You Can Modify version. As far as setup goes just think about the 4-4-4-4 model but do not lock yourself into that. Just connect some lights and see what happens. Its your sequence now. it will look good pretty no matter what you do. 4 roof, 4 windows, 4 bushes, 4 low. If that does not work think about symmetry if you can. If you buy a LOR sequence you can pretty much just make sure your controller is controller 1 and it should work using their Preview. Later you can build your preview. There are several other steps to get it to your show. If your playing off your computer- You take the sequences you have and add them in a show with the show editor, then schedule the show you created with the schedule editor, lastly enable the schedule from the red light bulb in the system tray. I have simplified the steps but I am sure youtube and this forum can help you along.
dgrant Posted November 12 Posted November 12 You can do this but its way late in the year to start. With the controller, did you acquire an RS485 serial adapter from LOR? You will have to have one for sure. That RJ45 connector on the AC Controller, is NOT ethernet, but it uses the same Cat5/6 type cables. If you attempt to plug it into the ethernet port on your computer, you WILL fry either the controller, the computer or both. You must use the adapter which connects the controller to a USB serial port on your computer. Build a preview first. Assign the strings or floods to the channels and I.D. number of the controller. There's lots of LOR video tutorials and I strongly suggest you look at them. I think the easiest sequence to do yourself is the Griswold christmas attempt to light up his house. Its funny and easy. You'll need the video or audio first. You'll create a new musical sequence and selecting that audio/video file as the source. During that creation, there's an option to decide on "timing" for the sequencer. Most of us use 0.1 seconds per division. From there, as stated already, its whatever you want to see. You become the "artist in lights". Once you have what you want on the screen play, connect your controller, hang your lights, turn on "Control Lights" on the right side of the sequencer, touch play and walk outside. Fix whatever you wish in your sequence and be sure to save it. Also plan ahead and create a backup location and use it. Once you have several sequences, you'll need to create a show. Use the control panel for that. There's lots of options depending on just how you want things to run and when you want them to run....and lots more! If you need that audio/video file, PM me and I'll email it to you
