Buschik Posted November 10 Posted November 10 (edited) I searched, both here and outside, trying to find a means to wirelessly link houses across the street to run pixels. I currently (well, last few years) link 9 houses from my own, with ELLs and ELOR PC16s .. incands and LEDs .. my house had a couple PC16's and lots of pixels, and the neighbors want to use pixels on their houses .. So, how can we link the houses without running CAT6 across the street (tree to tree)? I was told at one point to use ELL's with Directors, which can send start/stop timing commands btwn, and the show is on the SD cards in each, but 9+ houses at $240+/ea is prohibitive. I know ELL's (v4/v5) can run 115k, but it's not anywhere near the data speeds needed for pixels, so what option is there? I was in the FB group, but bc my acct was hacked last week, and bad stuff put up, I'm banned from FB, with no appeal. So, this place is home (again). Paula McKinnon Edited November 11 by Buschik

I think the only option is to run cat5 across the road, using some type of support system so the cat5 doesn't get snagged by larger, taller vehicles, like delivery trucks, moving trucks, garbage trucks, or semi trucks, etc. Running cat5 at ground level directly across the road would possibly be dangerous and if snagged could do some serious damage to whatever controller or device it's connected to. If I were to ever do a multiple home display, I wouldn't go any further than 1 house on each side of me, the house on my left, me in the middle and the house on my right, all of n the same side of the street. Just my personal preferences if I ever considered such an option. But I won't, too much work, and just don't want the headaches of a multiple house display.

The second director has 3 ports remaining (1 port is the sync port connected to the ELL) for use in this mode and the ELL just jeeps the directors in lock step. (You also lose a port on the Master, as it drives the main ELL)
k6ccc Posted November 11 Posted November 11 And sort of what SteveHoyt asked, if you were running the show from a computer (not a Director), you could send E1.31 data across the street via standard WiFi. With the advent of the PixieLink, you could convert back to LOR networking to drive existing LOR controllers or Pixie controllers for the new pixels.
