Brian Ross Posted November 10 Posted November 10 (edited) I just got this like 2 weeks ago. Brand new I have it connected to my network but when I go in the software to hardware utility I can scan the port it is connected to and i can scan the whole controller and it still comes up with error messages. This is my only controller. Edited November 10 by Brian Ross

TheDucks Posted November 10 Posted November 10 1602 does 1000K ???? Try 115K (especially if you have an older BLACK adapter. No HS label.) But FWIW I thought HU ignored the network speed and did its thing on 56K
k6ccc Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Correct, the 1602 will not handle anything faster than 115K speed. However, as noted, the Hardware Utility operates at fairly low speed and non-enhanced. Are you sure it's Comm Port 3? Best was to KNOW is to start with Windows Device Manager, and expand the section for ports. While watching that note what comm ports exist. Then unplug your USB adapter and see which comm port goes away. Then plug the USB adapter back in and confirm that the same comm port number comes back. That is the Comm port number that needs to be used. Also, you may need to manually install the driver for the USB adapter. Usually if you install the LOR software before plugging in the USB adapter for the first time, the correct driver will install, however if you plug in the adapter before ever installing the LOR software on that computer, it may need to be manually installed. Last time, if you are going to show your screen, please use a screen capture on the computer rather taking a photo of the screen. Much easier to read that way.

And I'm not sure, but I don't think AC controllers can do ELOR. So your settings should be whatever network it is on, speed: 500K and ELOR should be turned off. Then the software should be able to locate it.

I have read and reread the manual and I just can't find any references to the minimum or maximum speeds of the 160xW controller. I figured since this is an AC Controller, brand new, it would be a G3, and I thought ALL G3 Controllers could operate at 500K. So why wouldn't this one?
Mr. P Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Here is the speed chart for all LOR equipment: https://store.lightorama.com/pages/how-many-lights-can-i-connect?_pos=1&_sid=6c3a414e0&_ss=r

OP says he just purchased it new, so I'm sticking with it should be a G3 version and capable of 500K maximum speed. Also appears G3 AC Controllers can support ELOR, that aspect I was unsure of. Thanks for the reference chart, why some of this info doesn't seem to be covered in the manuals sort of astounds me.
k6ccc Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Mr. P beat me to the link. I have had that chart bookmarked for years. The OP said 1602 which is why I listed the 115K speed, but you are likely correct that a G3 version.

As I use my phone more for reading the forums and email due to my vision issues. Just can't read it on my computer monitor as well as I can on my phone. Only problem with the forums on my phone, I don't see the LOR software version that the posters/commenters are using. Other than that one issue, everything else seems to function just fine.
