jfuller8400 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I've just released version 2.2 of my Weather Conditions software for downloading and formatting weather data for use in programs like Zara Radio. You can download the new version here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/0v6ey4enacc687qypypgb/Setup.msi?rlkey=cui671qcaphvlyht1mws64cca&dl=0 You will be required to register for a One Call 3.0 API key at Open Weather Map (openweathermap.org). If you were using v2.0 of Weather Conditions and already have an OWM API key, you will still be required to subscribe to the OWM's One Call 3.0 service (which may generate a new API key for you). ItsMeBobO Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Do you have a video link? Does this run simultaneous to show?
Orville Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) I've never used Zara Radio, but I presume it's strictly used for computer based shows, since a Director would have no way to link to weather data in real time, which is what this does? And are these keys free, or what type costs are associated with using Zara Radio and it's add on options? Just curious, since on occasion I may use my computer to run my shows, instead of my N4-G4 MP3 Director. And is Zara Radio easy to set up and use? Anything I should be aware of, or watch out for when setting it up or using it? Thanks for any information. Edited November 6 by Orville

It has a paid version and a free version. Even the free version has the capabilities that you could likely run anything but a major market commercial FM station from it. Lots of capability. I've used it for years. 8 hours ago, Orville said: And are these keys free The keys being referenced are software keys for the weather data (not related to Zara). They are free. 8 hours ago, Orville said: And is Zara Radio easy to set up and use? Anything I should be aware of, or watch out for when setting it up or using it? For simple operation, Zara is not all that hard to set up. You can get very complex. I tend to be more on the complex side of it.
ItsMeBobO Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) The OP has a program which does something cool. I presume it converts the web weather data into spoken word for transmit. If an example of that is captured I would listen to it. Although I am not planning to use Zara as no one is around to listen to daytime music. Edited November 6 by ItsMeBobO

No. It extracts the weather data and saves it onto your computer in a format that Zara can make use of (it's a text file). Zara then uses that data to play pre-recorded audio clips that have the temperature and/or humidity data. So you would have an audio clip for every degree from 20 to 100 degrees (this is southern California so I don't need anything below that). When you schedule a temperature report, Zara will read the file and extract the temperature information (let's use 65 degrees as an example), and then play the pre-recorded audio clip for 65 degrees.
k6ccc Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Note, I was using his program for several years, but figured out how to get my weather station to export the text file in the required format for Zara to use.
ItsMeBobO Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I am doing it also for miip companion. But only during show hours. I also pick up the wind, cloud, precip numbers. This is exactly what it does. It has the benefit of being able to customize the layout/format of the output text file to however you need (so that you can use the data in programs besides Zara). It can also automatically geo-locate you to provide more accurate data. 17 hours ago, ItsMeBobO said: Do you have a video link? Does this run simultaneous to show? I haven't made a video of it yet, but that's a good idea that I'll add to my to-do list. 1 hour ago, ItsMeBobO said: The OP has a program which does something cool. That may be a good addition for a future version.
