Neil Posted November 3 Posted November 3 So I have Software suite 6.3.4, and then installed that version and updated it to 6.3.6 since it wouldn't work I try to open multiple sequences, and even after successfully assigning it an audio file and the sequencer installer assigning the audio file a new name, it can't seem to find it. Here is an example of one of the errors: A problem occurred while loading the audio waveform from: C:\Users\NEILCICHETTI\Documents\Light-O-Rama\Audio\Wonderful Christmastime-Paul McCartney-SN.mp3 Could not find file 'C:\Users\NEILCICHETTI\Documents\Light-O-Rama\LORInternal\CanonicalAudio\L'. This is what happens when I try to save my preview: --------------------------- Light-O-Rama S6 Sequencer --------------------------- A problem occurred while saving the Preview File: Could not find file 'C:\Users\NEILCICHETTI\Documents\Light-O-Rama\CommonData\LORPreviews.xml.tmp'. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- So I cannot load the LOR sequences - using the RGBPlus ones, AND I cannot save a preview. At least I was able to export the preview to another folder, so as not to lose the information permanently, however when I try to import it back - it gives me the error message above, and everytime I close the software, the preview is no longer there again. I have to re-import it every time. Does anyone else have these bugs? I used S4 or S5 in the past - but its been 5 yrs since I messed with this software, and I am building another show now, and bought the pixielink, so I think I am stuck with version 6. Should I use a different less buggy version for this to work? Thanks so much
k6ccc Posted November 3 Posted November 3 This on a first read sounds like a Windows permissions issue. In other words, your user account does not have write permission to the directories. Was the LOR software installed by a different user ID? 1

Verified it was there within file explorer. And had the same path that it was looking for it in. That it where I looked for it and it was modified with the SN by the sequencer installer.

And I am administrator for this PC.
Jeremiah Ackermann Posted November 4 Posted November 4 3 hours ago, Neil said: C:\Users\NEILCICHETTI\Documents\Light-O-Rama With all LOR apps closed, try renaming this folder to "Light-O-Rama2" to back it up and make the software think it needs to setup the folder again. Then start the sequencer and you should get a window saying you need to setup LOR for first time use, etc. Import your preview and attempt to save, restart, and see if the preview stays retained. If that works, then as @k6ccc mentioned, it was something permissions related. If it fails or fails again at some later point, it might be some other app trying to gain access to these files. Usually this is anti-virus software that is detecting new files and then scanning them. What anti-virus software you are running? 1

When I renamed the folder and tried to get back in - it wouldn't install a single thing, as everything was blocked. I checked Microsoft Defender, and looked at recent security threats, and found the blocked access. Clicked on that, and it directed me to Ransomware protection. I had to click: allow an app through controlled folder access. I allowed all of the LOR programs, and now it works!!!!!! Thanks for your help!
Neil Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 Thanks to everyone who responded. My computer is managed by my organization, and it has this ransomware controlled folder access enabled. I have no idea within microsoft 365 admin console how to turn this off for the entire org, but that probably would be a mistake. I instead, as I mentioned in a response to Jeremiah, I allowed all of the LOR apps access to "controlled folders" and that worked. I am pre-supposing that most LOR users aren't using a managed computer, and don't run into this problem. But I tried to put enough keywords into my comment to help direct them to this feed if they fell into the same trap. Thanks again ! 1
k6ccc Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Glad you got it working. So I was pretty close - you did not have write access to the folder. In your case due to aggressive protection. Thanks for giving the follow up.

I set up exceptions (white listed) all my LOR SOFTWARE, and ALL FOLDERS LINKED TO THEM. Then I set a Scan on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday from 1AM -4:00AM for testing my LOR FOLES and FOLDERS for any types of viruses, malware, etc. when I was using a computer to run shows. I timed it for when I wouldn't be on the computer to keep the LOR software safe and virus free.
