Show runs slow from computer

Had to replace my computer so brand new dell (windows 11) downloaded S4 latest version from LOR website (pro level) running 2 networks com 3 and com4 red adapter for pixels and black usb 485 dual port for regular network 3 regular 16 channel controllers 1 pixel controller with only 375 pixels. Same stuff has been running fine with no changes for last 4 years. Now when running the show from the new computer the singing  faces seem to be running slower and missing some of the movement . Loaded show onto an SD card and plugged in a gen3 show director and bang the show runs fine. Double check the computer stuff that I know of and still runs slower.  Any guesses would be appreciated!

Did you adjust the speeds of the adapters.

In S4 you use the Network Preferences  on the Red lightbulb or Windows Menu

Using the LOR network preferences and both are set to 56k the recommended setting the settings are the same in the show director

The singing faces are they LOR SINGING RGB PIXEL faces?  Or something else?

You can't run Pixie Controllers less than 500k(I set all my RGB Faces and RGB Lights to 1,000k), ELOR required.

So if you have them set at 56k, you're lucky they work at all, that is, if they are RGB and using a Pixie 2,4,8, or 16 controller.

When you create an SD card you say everything works fine, what type of Director are you using?

I use an N4-G4, and I have to set each ports parameters before I can write the card, if I told it to use my computers settings, my show wouldn't even run properly, usually I end up losing 2 of my 4 networks, which then only ½ my show operates.

I only have 2 USB adapters for my networks on my computer, Reg and Aux A, so, if I use the computers settings my Aux B and Aux C disappear, and those controllers either don't work at all, or if they do, very sporadic, sequencing is severely corrupted if they even try running my RGB lights.

So I don't know, but sounds to me that your computer vs your Director network settings are not identical.

You say Director runs fine, then your networks on your computer must not be set properly, and aren't what you set your Director up with.

It's the only logical thing I can think of that would be the problem, mainly that 56k speed is what I find as being the probable culprit.

Since I don't know your display or your sequences, this is mainly speculative, but the settings in your network would be where I'd start looking and making changes.

My bad the sings faces are running off regular 16 channel controllers not pixels my pixels run perfectly either way it’s the faces that start missing the mark I know it’s crazy but the faces hit perfectly as long as I’m running it with the director but start missing the mark if I switch to the computer it’s making me nuts

Okay, thanks.  That helps and definitely changes things

Are all the CTB16PC Controllers all the same type and age?  Or do you have both new(G3) and older(G1) CTB16PC Controllers mixed in together?   And if the CTB16PC are all the same type, is the firmware the same in each one, if not, you may need to update the firmware to the latest version, although if it were a FW issue I wouldn't think the director would work everything properly.

Still think you may have a configuration that is different between the director vs computer, otherwise if it runs perfectly on the director it should run the same on the computer "usually".

Are you running any additional software, like a virus program or any other programs running in the background while the computer is running the show?   Background programs can be notorious for slowing down and causing lag times or incorrect information being sent to your controllers.

You'll need to shut down every and almost all unnecessary background programs that are not connected to the LOR SOFTWARE, including Windows Update, auto backups, etc.   If you have anything running other than LOR, shut it down, reboot the computer and see if that helps resolve any issues.

Good luck.
