Hello, in my display this year i want to add a dmx operated flame machine, i use s6 pro and all my other lights use LOR protocol. I was wondering what hardware i need to connect my CBT 16 gen 3 to my dmx flame machines if it is even possible. would i just use the RJ-45 to XLR 3-pin Male cable and plug one end into my controller and the other into my dmx fire machine, Or is it more complicated than that. I am a complete newbie to dmx on light o rama so please excuse my lack of terminology.

LOR and DMX use the same electrical signal ( RS-485 ), but the data protocol is different.  There are two ways you can do what you want (option two recommended).  Option one would be to convert all your existing LOR controllers to DMX and then you could use the same network for your existing controllers and you flame machine as you described.  Option two would be to add a second network.  That would require a second USB to RS-485 adapter.  I would recommend using a different color cable as it helps from confusing which one is which.  I have never run DMX over RS-485 so I can't speck about DMX specific USB to RS-485 adapters.

Assuming you are taking option two as I listed and recommended above - you don't connect the DMX devices to your LOR devices at all.  The DMX device or devices will be on a second RS-485 network that will connect to a second USB to RS-485 adapter plugged into your show computer.

Sorry! I am using option 2 so i am connecting it to a rs-485 network but do i just use RJ-45 to XLR 3-pin cable?

That will depend on what connectors both the DMX devices have and what connectors the USB to RS-485 adapter has.  If you use a LOR RS-485 adapter, obviously it has a RJ-45 connector, but some DMX specific adapters have XLR connectors.  Most (NOT all) DMX devices have XLR connectors, but some are 3 pin and some are 5 pin - just to confuse the issue.
