Jimehc
It appears that the folder integration when set via the message popup while opening "Sequencer" (Control Panel not running), does not hold... After setting the folder location and rebooting, the next instance of opening sequencer, asks again for the folder location.... But setting the folder location via Control Panel, sticks, and does not ask for folder location when opening just Sequencer.. Edit: I reset the folder location via control panel, closed control panel, open Sequencer, went through Folder location prompts, sequencer opened.... Rebooted PC > opened sequencer, folder location prompt appears again, current correct path is shown, next, sequencer opens. Did this 3 times, then I went into control panel and set the folder location, no more location prompts when opening just Sequencer. k6ccc
Have not seen that. I only set the folder location via the popup prompt when I first ran 6.3.0 and have not had to touch it since - 4 different computers. And no, I am not using the "standard" file location. Jimehc
Easily duplicated - changed "Folder Location" from D:\ to C:\Light-O_Rama - Open Sequencer directly (Control Panel Not Running) - Close Sequencer - Reopen Sequencer > Message happens every time... Set "Folder Location" via Control Panel Settings, Works as expected...
k6ccc
How are you changing it in the first line of your description above (since I assume that is outside of CP)?
Jimehc
Jim, The second time reopening Sequencer it shows (correct) as C:\Light-O_Rama - As it does every time you reopen sequencer (Pictured).... The messages only disappear when the "Folder Location" is set via Control Panel Settings.... And it reproducible.............. k6ccc
You apparently misunderstood my question. How are you changing it to make it not work? Since if you change it in the CP, the popup does not appear ever again, how are you changing it to make the popup start coming again? In other words, what is the first step? You're giving the second step (opening Sequencer not from within CP). Note, I almost never open CP on my sequencing computer unless I am going to test something on my TuneTo matrix panels. Or to put it another way, I almost always open Sequencer directly.
Jimehc
Control Panel > Settings > Change Light-O-Rama Folder Location Then opening Sequencer w/ Control Panel closed Edit: Another way to get the messages to pop-up, is to just delete the working Light-O-Rama directory from your drive Edited September 20 by Jimehc
k6ccc
OK, now you are conflicting yourself, so I'm confused. From your first post, you stated: "But setting the folder location via Control Panel, sticks, and does not ask for folder location when opening just Sequencer.." But now you're stating that this the how to break it. What am I missing? Update: I finally figured out what you mean. When you clicked the button in CP to change the file locations, it SPECIFICLY tells you to exit all LOR programs and restart the Control Panel where you will get the popup to change the folder locations. What you are saying is you clicked the button in CP, exited CP and started Sequencer. In that case, you are right, the setting does not stick. In other words, you failed to follow the instructions and then blame the software for YOUR failure to follow the instructions.
Jimehc
Jim, as usual you are looking for an argument.... Actually I had to relocate the working folder, because I had to Replace the Drive.... You asked how to Step 1 - But you also just confirmed the issue I also did not share for your interjection - It was so Matt Brown would be informed, in case he cares to address it Edited September 20 by Jimehc

That's not the fault of the software.
Jimehc
@MattBrown Jim, you are assuming I went into Control Panel to reset location, although you can duplicate the issue if you reset location via control panel... I would not think you would want to delete the folder or remove the drive to duplicate the issue, although that is how I can across the issue.. Note: Just tested 6.2.18 and it is different - if you reset the folder location via Control Panel - then open Sequencer w/ control panel closed - Sequencer does not ask for new location, nor did it release the prior Folder location... If you open control panel it will ask for folder location.. Edited September 20 by Jimehc
