6.3.0 Crashing, a lot

I just downloaded and installed 6.3.0. So far, trying to open my first sequence, its crashing over and over. They've moved the media file requirements to the audio subdirectory which I went ahead and moved everything into there. But just trying to get the sequence to find and use the new location, its crashing the main software. It "seems" no matter what I try to accomplish, results in a crash of the code.

So, I'm trying to assign a motion effect of snowflakes to a pixel tree. As soon as I touch the snowflakes option, I get a full blown crash of the software, as in it locks up first, audio playing in the background for a visual effect for whatever reason then nothing.

The audio and Sequences folders have always been the suggested defaults, but that does not mean they HAVE to be there. My folders have always been and continue to be  Music and Current Sequences. They have and still work fine under the new update. Sequencer in fact remembers those locations. I noticed the statement in the update but as far as I can tell nothing has changed.

For starters, I would uninstall completely and reinstall a fresh download.

Sequencer should just complain when it's media files dissappear, which it sounds like you caused to happen.

I would put the files back where they were but leave them in both locations for now. Open each sequence in turn and reassign the media file to whichever you prefer.

When I get back to my machine I may try an experiment.

I found the problem just seconds ago. I was creating the motion effect on the pixel tree itself rather than on the "effects" portion of the pixel tree. So far, it appears to be happier.

We would sure like to eliminate any crashes of the Sequencer. If you have time, please attach your sequence to a help desk ticket, along with some screen captures showing what you were doing before the crash. Thanks!

Hey Matt, I found another possible issue with this latest software version. Rather than deluge the help desk with issues, would it be smarter to post issues in a new forum posting spot for these? This would allow you and whomever faster access and limit problems to the help desk. Ideas, thoughts?

BTW, this latest I noticed yesterday is the “file references” in the sequencer, does a great job for added items but shows nothing for media files even though the sequencer has already notified there’s a problem and yes, the media file item can be accessed just below but not within the file references. Strange that it’s available there but still not the case. Maybe it’s only if the media file is a video file as opposed to an audio file.
Thanks again

David

If the media file can't be found, it does show as "*** missing ***" in the File References dialog. You just can't fix it from there. You need to select Sequence > Media File to fix it. Attaching a screenshot with some additional detail to a new help desk ticket would help us drill down on this issue. Thanks for the feedback!
