Matrix

I want a matrix in my display but the only place I have to put it is over my garage. Which I don’t mind. However the house is all brick. Anyone have any experience with what to use to mount the matrix to brick? My thought was to drill some anchors through the mortar but then I’m lost on what to attach the matrix to for stability.

I built a 24x50 matrix and mounted it to a TV cart with wheels.

I just roll it in front of my garage and lock the wheels. After the season is done, I unlock the wheels and roll it into the garage for next year.

Although this is for a flat pixel tree, if could be modified for a rectangular matrix.  My pixel tree is almost free standing.  The only support to the house is one strut that is bolted to a roof beam.  Here is two web pages for two versions of the tree.

@k6ccc

Hey Jim, The feet of your tree, are they just resting on the grass or pushed into the dirt? I like the idea of it bolting it to the roof area.

Now I am thinking of redoing my mini mega tree. Which I am about to start building.

But I would need a body to go up and bolt it in for me. I refuse to climb a ladder now. Almost 2 years later,  I am still trying to get my motion back in my shoulder.

St Louis and especially the valley I live in has a lot of wind.   My props need to be secured strongly.  Stakes in the ground and guy wires for me.   I have a stone and brick house also but above the stone windows is an iron lintel which I bolted into.  Also the peak of the roof is wood and I ran support wire to there.

If you dont have the concern of wind.. I really like these brick clips

I put down a small piece of wood that the leg sits on.  Usually that means one of those 8 inch 1x2 stakes just laying on the ground.  Especially as the tree has gotten larger and heavier (it's gone from 12 strings of 50 pixels to 26 strings of 100 pixels, so a lot heavier), the need to put a little support has grown.  It's still just a small piece of wood laying on the ground.

I have tried for the life of me to get these to work. I ended up tossing them and drilling into the mortar and installing eye bolts.

For everyone except gsmith37064,  😉  these brick clips work well for holding props which wont catch the wind.
