rhbaby
Hey all - I'll put a summary of my setup below, but the TL;DR is that I'm trying to setup a soundboard triggered by a big red button. The sequences I'm testing all play perfectly in S6 and when I start the show the 15 second Startup sequence plays fine. When I hit the button, the triggered sequence will play but the lights stop responding correctly about 7-8 seconds in. From there the Control Panel gets unresponsive -- if I go back to "Test Lights"for example, switching between the strings has a lot of lag, and the light strings don't turn on or off reliably. I have to exit the CP entirely to get the hardware back to working. The button press is somehow messing up the entire system. It feels like a small controller with 4 basic light strings, an input pup and a button should be a pretty straightforward setup, but I'm not having much luck. Ideas? I haven't found a video tutorial on a basic setup for the Input Pup that isn't under 5 years old, so the software interfaces don't quite match up, so I might be missing something easy. Setup summary is: Software: LOR Control Panel v 6.2.18 Pro LOR S6 Sequencer 6.2.18 Pro Hardware: Pixie4 v1.10ID 01, LOR Regular (Enhanced), COM 7, 500KInput Pup v1.01 ID 0D, LOR Aux A, COM 6 500K 9v external power Button press registers in Controller Setup and works to trigger Interactive sequences Lights: 4 strings of smart lights from LOR Test Lights in Control Panel works, sequences run in Sequencer reliably
PhilMassey
The input pup cannot be on an enhanced LOR network. You will need a second adaptor and network that is not ELOR for the pup.
rhbaby
Thanks for that -- I do have 2 separate inputs coming out of the pup, one going to the PC and one to the controller, and the controller and pup are on different COM ports (6 and 7). I take it that isn't enough? My current wiring is Controller Ethernet 1 > PC Controller Ethernet 2 > Input Pup > PC So instead, I would go Controller Ethernet 1 > PC Controller Ethernet 2 > Input Pup ... and not use the Input Pup as a bridge like I do now? PhilMassey
Please don't call it ethernet. It can create confusion. It is RS 485 over an ethernet style cable. Plugging an RS 485 device into an Ethernet device will damage something. You will have one LOR RS 485 adaptor from the PC's USB port to the Pixie running ELOR. The second RS 485 adaptor will go from the PC to the Pup and be NON Enhanced.
k6ccc
Also, the InputPup wont work at 500K. 115K max. This page is useful: https://store.lightorama.com/pages/how-many-lights-can-i-connect Edited August 11 by k6ccc Added link to Network Speed webpage
rhbaby
Thanks all, the combination of changing the wiring and fixing the network speed resolved my issues. If anyone else needs to set up this very simple design, it's: Where Network 01 is the connection of the controller from the Pixie to the PC via 485 adapter. You can see the network settings above Network 2 is the connection from the Input Pup to the PC via 485 adapter with the settings noted in the screenshot. The Input Pup is powered via en external 9v power adapter (via Amazon) and the button also came from Amazon
