Pixie2 Controller will not connect.

HI all,

I am struggling as I have tried everything I can think of. Last year I had just a Mega Tree and RGB Star. I ran the tree on a Pixie16 and the Star on a Pixie2. This year I added a AC 16 controller. I added the AC Controller did all my testing and all was good. When I gat it all set up outside my Pixie2 controller would not communicate at all. I just kept getting flashing light on the controller. I tried switching the ports around and nothing. I took the controller back inside  and am trying to communicate with it via the HU and it will not communicate. When I go through the hardware utility, it cannot find the unit at all. I am running  LOR v6.1.4Pro. (I have tried different CAT5 cables, different ports on the controller, resetting the controller, I have even looked at the pins to make sure there is no damage)

All other controllers work and have no issues, the Pixie2 is not working at all and I don't know what to do..

I suspect the network driver IC has gone bad from your steps tried descriptions.

What is the status LED doing (when connected and HU running on that network)?  No LED might be a power issue

The LED on the Pixie2 just flashes continually.

Then it probably is that 8 pin chip next to the Jax

Hi,

Thank you for the info.

Can that chip be replaced, or do I need to buy a new controller?

In the larger Pixies, it is socketed. (no pixie2 here). Peek 🙂

Note the dot or notched end before removal

FYI: I just opened 2 of my Pixie2's, and, yes, those chips are socketed for easier replacement.  One was older for the LOR Gen1 Singing Trees and 1 of the newer versions I just purchased about a year or less ago.  In both, that chip is in a socket next to the comm(cat5) jacks.

Thanks to this LOR Forum I was able to repair my Pixie2. I was experiencing the same problems with one of my Pixie2 controllers that SumLights was having and then found this post which solved my problem. I just googled the information on the IC chip and found a company that had the chip for $1.82. So I ordered 4 and two-day shipping. I'm including a photo of the interface IC chip marked in red to help others if they have the same issue with their Pixie2.

Could you please send me a PM where you got your com chips from? I have an old Pixie16D board that I'm pretty sure the com chip needs replacing.

Thanks!
