machtoo
I have many legacy props in my display as well as RGB devices. All of my legacy props are 3 channels...1 red, 1 green and 1 white. This includes 32 mini trees, 9 white trees, 16 candy canes, large trees, the house roof sections, etc. I have been successful creating groups and adding a motion effect row to each group allowing the use of motion effects with the 3 channel props. Now for the anomaly...the motion effect does not display the white channel alone when it is cycling colors using an effect. White is displayed as all three colors or channels together even though they are separate channels. In the motion effect window I can unselect white and the effect works as expected with red and green. Even checking white alone in the effect options box displays all three colors combined. If a prop is white only like my arches, they display properly as white in the preview window. The motion effects work technically with the three channels in the group but will not treat the white channel independently. Can Matt or someone provide some insight on this anomaly? Thanks, Dean
rick gurnee
Just a thought. It sounds as if the Sequencer is treating white different from all other colors. What if you changed it from white to blue? then would it work as you want it to? Of course you and I know when you display the lights it will show white. It will show as blue on the computer but you could probably live with that.
prevue12
I have been begging them to make motion effects work for white colored strings for years, even in person at some of the Christmas expos at the LOR booth. I don't expect to to ever happen at this point. I just don't use white when I use motion effects, crappy answer I know. All my AC props are RGBW super strings, and It is a bummer that I can't do some things in white.
machtoo
This is a software defect that needs to be addressed. To have to do a work around to use the motion effects with multi-channel ac props that use white defeats the purpose. I have 360 channels of A/C and two 16x100 pixel trees plus a 12 ribbon CCR tree. I just created a new sequence for 2023 and noticed the issue. I will have to edit every prop to try and use a different color to turn on white properly. I will probably do a test to see if using a different color for the white channels works. But not looking forward to it. The issue should be addressed in the software. Solution machtoo Posted February 3 Author Solution Share Posted February 3 (edited) I created a new preview and edited a set of 16 tricolor candy cane props. I set blue to the white channels and turned white off and selected blue in the motion effect options. The blue(white) channels did work correctly but it is disconcerting to see blue in the preview playback. Really needs to be fixed.
