Subdividing Existing Prop

I am an S6 newbie, so I apologize if this is a stupid question.  Is there a way to subdivide an existing prop?  I currently have a prop defined for a window frame, but after sequencing songs, I would like to break that prop into its 4 sides and create a group of those sides for the window.   I have created and defined the new sides and group in the preview, but can’t figure out how to replace the original frame with the new group without causing the program to archive my original animation for the frame.

I hope this makes sense.  Any help would be appreciated.

I've had to do this myself.   The event data is kept when the prop is archived, so you can just copy the data and paste to the new prop.  When you are completed with that, you can then delete the archived prop if you so choose.   In several of my sequences, I have just left the archived props in there just in case i need to replace something that I accidentally deleted and didn't catch till later and yes that has happened.  Of course you can always go back to the backup sequence if that happens.

Another thing you can do is right-click on your original prop in the prop listing at the left of the sequencer screen and select manage motion effects rows.  Here you can add rows that are related to what pixels you select in the motion effects management window.   I believe the window prop shows up as a straight line, so you will need to figure out which part of the line to select/highlight for each row that represents the bottom, top, left, or right side of the window.   This would probably correlate to how many pixels you assigned to the sides, top and bottom of your prop.

Another way to do it is to right-click on the prop and enable channel level programming and then group the corresponding channels into groups defining the sides, top and bottom, but I think this is a little more tedious to do.
