Unable to get 150 nodes working on Pixie 16 channel

I decided last minute to add an additional 50 pixels to two of my props, but so far I am only able to get the first 100 pixels to work on each prop. I have updated the preview to account for the additional nodes and am trying to update the controller to 150 pixels per channel but I keep getting a "No Response" error in the HW configuration tool when trying to update the Controller. I think I have narrowed this down to the controller being set to 100 pixels but I am unable to update the config, wondering if there is a step I am missing.

5.6.8 pro with 2 Pixie 16 1.04 controllers. I am trying to update one channel on each controller.

any thoughts on what could be causing this?

connect controller to PC via the adapter > open Hardware Utility > find the controller > click the "Config" Button > click the cosmic color/Pixie Config button > click Advanced > Max Pixels=170 > ok

Sometimes, you can only get HU to work with only one controller at a time on the network. Have you tried that?

Just tried with only one controller connected to the network with the same results.

This is the steps I am taking. after I click ok it says this like it should

But once I click to update unit I get the error.

and the settings do not save.  My last thought is to maybe update firmware but I will wait until after the season if I have to do that.

Don't click Update  (??? where is this button)  after receiving the previous.  The setting was sent immediately.

I would restart  (power cycle the Pixie) if you are having issues with it 'taking' some changes.

(I was having issues stopping Standalone mode and  that worked)

My new Pixie16D came with FW 1.08 already installed.  This fw update from when I was having similar issues, was told that the newer versions of the LORR suites need this FW update for the Pixie16D to function properly.  I'm not using any newer lOR software, but got messages tellimg if I was using version 5.?.? or higher, this FW update would be required to use the controller properly.

Even if you don't want to update the FW, I would.  I always have when a new update comes out, I've only had one issue with 1.08, and that was because the device file was older and I needed to chnage that to the latest one to get my Pixie16D to update in the HU.   Might want to try updating yourr device file, sometimes it gets corrupted and needs to be replaced with a fresh or newer copy, found in the FW update area on the LOR Main site.

Once I updateed my device file, my Pixie worked perfectly with FW 1.08.

Don't know if this could be part of your issue or not.

Update the FW. Your version is to old for your software version.

Fixed..

Ok I updated the firmware to v1.08 power cycled the controller tried to configure etc and was still having the same problem, Then after readying Dibblejr's post on another thread about jumpers I started looking at mine and found that JP5 had a Jumper on J3 which if I am reading the manual correctly forces the unit to WS28118 RGB 100 pixels. removed that jumper and tested on Unit 01 and all 150 lit red.

@dibblejr do I need to have that jumper on another pin or is it ok to leave off the JP5 completely?

Updating the firmware on Controller 2 now which also has the jumper in the same place.  I couldn't find the original note that came with the controllers (haven't really looked that hard) I don't ever remember placing that jumper but I must have at some point.

Leave the jumper off.

Glad you got it working

Glad you found the culprit and got everything working properly.

Sometimes a jumper can make things not work as we expect them too.    But I think it was a smart move to update the Pixie16D to the latest firmware.   I know most of us don't like updating FW this late in the season, but on occasion, it does become a necessity.

BTW: I usually just place unused jumpers on one pin, that way I know where it is, even if I'm not using it, I always know where it is if I need it. :)
