Wayne K Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 How is every ones display doing this year? Everything working ok or having problems? I just discovered that I was using an old 2021 show schedule after the new computer build and thought I had everything set. Had some songs I had added to the play list, but they were not playing. k6ccc Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 My show is doing very well. It was kinda nice - this morning I got up and thought "what do I need to do with the light show today?". The answer was: "Nothing".
PhilMassey Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Setup and testing was near flawless. Then the rains came, and kept coming for a week. Pixel stakes dying like flies. Soldering in the rain but more died as fast as I fixed them. Finally got a dryish day today so managed to replace 3 of the worst strings. Clear signs of water entry in many pixels.

ebrown1972 Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 I had to fix a prop where a pixel went bad within a day or two of my show starting but have not had to repair anything since. I hope that continues. Good luck everyone. Eric
dgrant Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 I had a couple of small glitches that were easily fixed, then just like Phil, the rains came. The only problems that happened were pixel strips getting water inside again. Air compressor and in some cases, soldering station, spare parts and the usual, finally got them sealed up, again. Then the rains came again and now other pixel strips were affected, again. There needs to be a better way.
LightsWithSoul Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 So far it's been a nearly flawless run knock on wood. My installation methods were tested not long after turning the show on with 60mph winds but everything held up okay besides a couple of snowflakes that were staked in to some really heavy ceramic pots that still managed to blow over. All the pixels I have are from LOR and every year they come through without any issues.
Godney Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Well last week we had a major storm come thru here it destroyed my Manger scene tower that holds up a Star and three Angels , other than that minor problems, but i did get a shocker yesterday when i forgot to unplug an led strand i was working on, now that will wake you up real fast!!!!!!!!!!!
tlogan Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 I'm at least two weeks behind, but I think I've done as much as I'm going to this year. Sad that I won't get the firesticks up that I sequenced for this year. Having said that, I only had to make a few sequence teaks and I just realized I must have one bad triac on an AC controller. If I can find time, I can move that one bad channel to a spare on the same controller...depends on how much time I have.
TexasLights Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 I had bypass surgery in September and wasn't suppose to do anything until late November (I cheated a bit) and have most everything setup. I took a few shortcuts that most people won't even notice to get things up a bit quicker than normal. I have not had a chance to record much so far, except this short sampler
Wayne K Posted December 12, 2022 Author Posted December 12, 2022 I must have jinxed ( not sure on that spelling ) myself by starting this this thread. My brand new computer died last night. I done some work on a couple of sequences yesterday afternoon and everything seemed fine. 5:15 static show came on fine. 6:00 evening show came on and started fine. At about 7:10 I looked out and display was dark. Since I had done a complete new build with everything, I still had the 10 year old machine that I had set aside. So I brought it out of retirement and in about 10 minutes was back up and running. As near as I can tell, I lost the M2 ssd drive. When I get home from work tonight, I am going to grab the same drive out of my garage computer and throw in this board and see if it will fire up. Both computers use the same board and everything. So should be able to tell real quick. Wayne
