D light hardware utility needed

I have an old d light 16 channel box I'm trying to run as my first setup. It seems my LOR hardware won't recognize my dLight box. I read I need the DLight HU. I'm not sure what that helps with or how it makes it where I can use LOR software. I was also told I need to run LOR software in DMX mode. I don't see that option in the LOR setup program. I got a few songs, got the license, got the cables... seems like this should be a little easier. Do I need to give up on the old controller? It powers up, connected some led strings and they light up. At some point the LOR program turned off a few channels some how. Buy selecting unit to configure it says 0 found.
