Dr_Aplet
So i am looking into whether or not i want to upgrade to S6 IF its a good deal. Here's why: 1) I have basic plus software but would like to try something more interactive like BobO's MIIP. S6 offers start up/ shutdown features But i noticed that the "whats new" for the control panel in S6 has live player, sequence override and jukebox i am not sure how any of those work but do I need to upgrade to a different level to let guests pick what plays? Do I need the upgrade for more a button push or BobO's MIIP? •When playback is disabled, you can pick 1 of 2 playback modes: Show Player (traditional playback), Live Player (jukebox playback). •The new Show Player allows the queue of upcoming sequences to be manipulated by the user. •The new Show Player allows a set of "Override Sequences" to be defined and inserted into the queue at any time (for example "Clear out please" announcements). •The new "Live Player" mode puts you in control of playing your show. It works like a jukebox and makes using Light-O-Rama sequences in live performances much easier. 2) the price for the upgrade now is $29.95 it is $70 to upgrade to advanced with a major (s6) upgrade to work with bobO's stuff. Will the price stay about the same? Is this a good deal? if i just straight upgrade does that get me to the level to be able to use some of the interactive stuff? Has BobO announced if his stuff will work with S6? 3) I've not really enjoyed 8 different programs in S5 and I have only been using it a couple years so i am not a wiz at anything. would now be the time to move up? It looks like everything for what i use is pretty much the same. 32 channels AC and 8 channels Dumb RGB.
k6ccc
One standard advise. Bite the bullet and upgrade to Pro - you'll use it at least eventually. And you don't have to worry about what features you can use... As far as MIIP and S6, that is to be seen. I'm very certain BobO is working on it. Note that the control panel capabilities does NOT replace MIIP in any way shape or form.
PhilMassey
I concur with the go to Pro advice. Miip simply manipulates the LOR show player to add the public phone access. Any version of LOR before S6 will work with Miip, As Jim said, we don't know yet if or when it will work with S6. After the stable S6 releases, I will be testing if rolling back to S5 for the show season is a viable contingency for this year. Since I'm pretty much done with my sequencing for this year, I wont need to use any of the new props or effects which might cause a problem when rolling back.
Dr_Aplet
Thanks Phil and Jim, BobO says that his software requires at least the advanced LOR SW level. I won' be able to run MIIP this year any way. So i dont really see any major reason to upgrade other than to get the startup and shut down features and the new interface which i like because i dont like trying to figure out what is where to make it work. I may upgrade to advanced S6 just for those reasons. I see the Pro level price difference is the same ($50) whether i go up to pro now or later. I don't have any pixels or anything like that. Bottom line unless i misunderstand, the $29.95 upgrade price is just the same as always and you keep the same license level.
